Media Center>Clint Eastwood's "Richard Jewell"
Megatron96 05:49 PM 12-09-2019
So I've seen the trailers for this a couple times now, and I have to admit, I'm curious. Clint almost always makes a good movie and the subject matter is interesting. Well, it is to me anyway. I still vividly remember the Richard Jewell story, how shocking the bombing was, how quick the media was to identify and then judge Mr. Jewell in print and on the air, etc. And then when they found he was actually innocent, how quickly and furtively the media just swept his story under the table.

Anyway, wondered if anyone else is interested in the story?

Isnt that the one that has porn? Back in the heyday of blockbuster there was a competitor that rented in XXX movies in addition to the usual retail stuff.

Yeah, I remember some chain, I think it was Family video, in Lee’s Summit that had a “back room” for porn to rent. Never did. That was a very conservative community. At the time I was active in the PTA, managing a youth baseball team, wife is a teacher in the school right up the street. Both involved in local charity work etc. besides..... I knew how to get porn on this new thing, the internet. :-)

Video Library (in Lenexa) didn't have a "back room", they just had a massive porn section right in the open. I mean that thing was 4 sections, minimum. Always a few dudes low-key browsing and kids like me trying to sneak looks by pretending to look in the Comedy section. They always had an employee there running kids off, haha.

I remember seeing several ‘back rooms’ inside the mom and pops video stores in the 80s and 90s. They were typically curtained off somehow.

It was another thing that Blockbuster tried to kill. They didn’t allow porn and they heavily censored NC-17 and some R rated movies.

Here in central Florida every Publix and Walmart grocery store has a Red Box machine, I have 5 within 5 miles of my home. I get emails almost everyday to rent 1 and get 2, keep a second night free, 75 cents off, anything they can think of they'll email me and I never see anyone using the machines and most of the big films are in Blue Ray for $2 now and $1.50 for regular DVD.
