"Wayfaring Stranger" is a folk song from the early 19th century. My favorite version, which came out 20 years before Cash's, is Emmylou Harris' off of her bluegrass album.

I didnít know that either. Makes some sense as to why it was in 1917.

That movie was so engrossing it didnít even occur to me that it was something else.
