My aunt and uncle got sent home so finally some good news on our front.

Italy has now ordered mask wearing outdoors. I seem to recall a couple months ago that lady doctor on the task force coming to Kansas and saying we need to be more like Italy. Apparently they aren't doing so hot.

Every time we hear "we need to be like that country", that country ends up re-locking down or spiking or whatever.

Absolutely. But how quickly can they scale up and make the treatments available?

Fast. If they want to. Really fast.

I don't want problems, I want solutions.

I'm getting even more concerned as our hospital is now steamrolling towards capacity. I wish I knew what the contingency plan is, but like most things, it's very hush hush.

But Sweden.....

https://www.worldometers.info/corona...ountry/sweden/

Rolling 7 day average for deaths since beginning of August is less than 3.

Their cases are going back up a tick, which isn't ideal.

That is excellent news. I was reading through their trial info and I am wondering if there is a specific timing on when this gets administrated? They were only taking people in their trials with a covid positive test 3 days or sooner with symptoms.

There's a lot of unspecified information behind that data. Remember that this is a press release and not a clinical trial. A relative risk reduction of 84% (which is a composite endpoint--both hospitalization and ER visit) is highly unlikely to have a p-value of 0.049. If it drove down hospitalizations that much, the p-value should be much lower, in line with what they list in viral clearance and symptom changes.

I saw people in that thread bitching about cost?

An estimated 750 million, or 10 per cent of the world’s population, have been infected by Covid-19, World Health Organisation (WHO) official Dr Mike Ryan has said.

Yet the IFR is 0.7%?

That would put the IFR at ~.14% or right around seasonal flu IFR.

That seems odd. Globally, we've already lost 1,058,000 people to COVID-19. A really bad flu year results in ~500,000 dead.
