Best steakhouse in Kansas City. It's also restaurant week in Kansas City which unfortunately seems to get less appealing every year, but still a nice selection.
I would also add Piropos and The Golden Ox to your list.
J. Gilbert’s and Stock Hill are probably my two favorites. Capital Grille is very nice (but a bit of a chain - limited, but still a chain. J. Gilbert’s is too for that matter). Antons and J. Alexander did not impress. Have yet to try Sullivan’s, although I hear good things. Gas Light was also nice. Jess and Jim’s, Majestic, Hereford House, have all lost their way. Pierpoints was very dry ( how they did that on a ribeye requires talent).
Underrated - Sierra Grill. It’s in an old Fazollis but surprised me. [Reply]
Anton's disappointed for me, and I was so bummed because I had consistently heard rave reviews. I'll give it another shot but just haven't made it back yet. I got the bone-in filet and it was a mess all the way around.
801-as far a chains go, I've never had a bad steak here. Consistency has been awesome and I've probably eaten here 15 times.
The two NOT on the list that should be are Golden Ox and Plaza III. I've yet to make it out to the new Plaza III but it was maybe my favorite steakhouse in KC for many years. But the new Golden Ox was ridiculous. Wife and I went there last summer for the first time since it reopened and it was exquisite. Best steak I've had in the past year for sure. [Reply]
We ate at the Majestic a while back on a whim. Didn’t even know it existed. Had a great steak. Pricey, but great. J Alexander’s is awesome too. PLaza III when it was here was good too.
I can count on one hand the number of great steaks I’ve had a restaurants. Usually they suck. Gotta go to places like the OP poll to make it worthwhile. [Reply]
