Nzoner's Game Room>UPDATE: Ford to 49ers for a 2020 2nd round pick. Official.
Dante84 06:19 PM 03-12-2019

More trade news: The #Chiefs are deep in talks with the #49ers on a trade for star pass-rusher Dee Ford, sources say. Things have escalated and this could get done by the end of the night. Ford needs to work out a new contract with SF, which is a big piece of this.

The trade is essentially agreed to — Ford for a 2020 2nd round pick. That assumes the #49ers get a deal done with Ford. https://t.co/g4tYK2tWFh

Glad the Chiefs moved on, hope the guy gets healthy. I don’t hold a huge grudge.

It all happened for a reason and resulted in what we wanted in the end. I don’t think we are in near as good of a position to possibly begin a dynasty if we had won the SB that year and moved forward with that same defensive regime.

Not a 1-trick pony.

A 3-legged race horse.

For as much as I hated on the guy 2 years ago, I actually feel sorry for him. His body just isn't up for the game of football. I hope he has a good contingency plan.

The dude has already made more money than 99% of the people on this board will ever make in our entire lifetimes. He'll be fine.

NFL players go broke all the time, millions or not.

And I was talking more about the guy's mental health. These guys suffer all the time when the mind says "yes" but the body says "no".

If only his mind and body would have said “no” when he began to line up offsides.

They always intended to use him as a situational pass rusher so his number of starts was never going to be high.

That being said, he was only able to play in 11 games last year and the drop-off when he was out was staggering.

Well to be fair, when he played, the whole defense was like twice as good as without him.

Man....more props to Veach and Co.

From a contract standpoint, Chiefs really dodged a bullet w/ not signing Ford long term in KC. From a financial/production standpoint, the Chiefs easily won that trade. Can't play for the club when you're in the tub.

KC drafted Willie Gay with that Ford compensation draft pick. He's yet to see the field really except for ST. I really hate having Neimann out there. Good ST player, but man he's just a step too slow and his tackling (along w/ many others) has been absolute crap.

From what I recall about the contract, it doesn't have a ton of guaranteed money and is basically a series of one year options for the team. So numbers may be misleading.

First he raped him with the Ford trade, then he pulled out and shot a load on his back with the Super Bowl win.

I can't believe how bad Ford has been for both teams. I think this was one time I wasn't upset we traded a high profile player.

Yeah, I usually like DJ's takes but wow. This was a real stinker. But that is part of the danger of putting your opinions out there. Goes with the territory, I guess.
