Besides if you continue to expand Dok's hook range that's technically shooting and he is preeeetty good at hitting those. Tim Duncan is a hall of famer in the short shooting range.

He can’t score outside of 8 feet and is a defensive liability

What game are you watching? They can all shoot.

Bamba 68% FT Shooter, made 0.5 threes a game.
Ayton 73% FT Shooter, made 0.3 threes a game. 34% 3PT FG%.
Bagley 63% FT shooter, made 0.7 threes a game at 40% clip.

Udoka 37% FT shooter. 0.0 threes per game. Probably zero shots over 5 feet entire year, and for good reason.
