Cant recall ever seeing a thread on this topic so i thought it was time we had one... this thread is dedicated to military weaponry of any kind, from any era or nation.
There is a seemingly endless array of novel, fascinating, revolutionary or even ill-fated hardware out there so subject material shouldnt be a problem.
Fire balloons launched by the Japanese against us and Canada during WWII. One resulted in the only deaths (6) of Americans on CONUS by enemy action during the war:

Saw it on this episode of Future Weapons.
Each bomblet has its own identification and tracking system. As it hovers over an area it searches for vehicles, when it identifies one it locks on and fires its weapon which shoots a jet of molten copper. [Reply]

Bumping this thread, there is just too much incredible technology out there right now to not keep up with it, I will make efforts to update frequently
So lets start back with THAAD, its hard to fathom the extreme accuracy involved in trusting a kinetic weapon to take out a missile
Why would you not want an explosive warhead for insurance, proximity fused to go off if its going to be a near miss etc? With all of the problems involved in creating the latest missiles for various platforms and their accuracy/reliability that I read about... its just difficult to understand how THAAD can be trusted to be so accurate
Someone help me understand here
Now to another interest...
I am totally fascinated with our various stealth aircraft craft and the technology they employ
So anyway, it appears that certain nations like Australia are looking for cost effective alternative/complementary pieces for the F-35 and are rebuilding and retrofitting the old but legendary and still quite viable F-15 airframe into stealthy assets
Notice the body reframing, matte finish of stealth coatings and recessed bomb bay of the Silent Eagle...
And while there isnt a single link I can find to prove it, it sure looks like the F-16 on the left, the prettiest little warbird ever created IMO, the Porsche roadster of fighter jets has gotten the same stealthy treatment
You can ditch the fuel pods on the wings of the 15-16 too, look how sleek and radar evasive they would be without those
