We used to have ~50 daily flights from China arriving in our country. I doubt Mexico had as many.

We should have done that a month ago. SF area doesn't have near as many cases as NY does possibly because of the shelter in place order. now we are fucked.

Seems Mexico City would be a hotbed though.

I've said for a couple weeks now I think we're underestimating how contagious this is. Just look at how is spreads like wildfire through places.

Although to be fair, you see something like the Utah Jazz and they were traveling around with a couple guys who had it and most of the organization didn't get it. I guess that could just be a severity issue.

They didn't test positive for it. Doesn't mean they hadn't had it.

Until we start testing for immunity, we don't know. There's likely hundreds of thousands or millions out there that have had it and are now immune.

I haven't read back through the thread but this is ****ing scary. They found the virus on the Diamond Princess 17 days later.

Coronavirus RNA survived for up to 17 days aboard the Diamond Princess cruise ship, living far longer on surfaces than previous research has shown, according to new data published Monday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The study examined the Japanese and U.S. government efforts to contain the COVID-19 outbreaks on the Carnival-owned Diamond Princess ship in Japan and the Grand Princess ship in California. Passengers and crew on both ships were quarantined on board after previous guests, who didn’t have any symptoms while aboard each of the ships, tested positive for COVID-19 after landing ashore.

The RNA, the genetic material of the virus that causes COVID-19, “was identified on a variety of surfaces in cabins of both symptomatic and asymptomatic infected passengers up to 17 days after cabins were vacated on the Diamond Princess but before disinfection procedures had been conducted,” the researchers wrote, adding that the finding doesn’t necessarily mean the virus spread by surface.

The CDC said researchers couldn’t “determine whether transmission occurred from contaminated surfaces,” and that further study of COVID-19′s spread through touching surfaces on cruise ships was warranted.
