This defense is not purely reliant on winning one on ones like Sutton’s. They’re going to bring pressure in all sorts of different ways. And maybe stop the ****ing run, another factor that cost them in the AFCCG.
Yeah the picture is shaping up. Seems like they know what they're doing.

It’s not that it was one play. It was the type of mistake

Unforced error

I don't know how we'll do vs pass but I think our run defense will be much improved.

I don't think he's going to be challenging speaks.

Our line today would be:

Okafor, Jones, Nnadi, Speaks

That's honestly a pretty stout run stopping unit and we have the size upfront to really let our linebackers do some damage in blitzing downs.

If Okafor struggles to stay on the field it's because we drafted an edge guy who is stealing his snaps...not Speaks.

The way the D-line is shaking up I really hope we find a way to get Devin Bush in the first.

Dorian O'Daniel + Devin Bush and occasionally the Honey Badger getting set loose on blitzes is going to cause a ton of havoc.

Hope Daly brings some of that good shit he was using in the playoffs. Repeatedly fucked some damn good OLs.

Your mother should have swallowed you with her anus. Your father is a real prick for not pushing the anal topic harder the night you were conceived. Fuck that guy.

If we got Devin Bush my opinion would change heavily but that’s not going to happen at 29 and he’s not ballsy enough to trade up for a MLB.

He will be hurt until his next contract year again.
Everyone keeps using the fact that our defense from last year sucked despite having a superior pass rusk like it wasn't a statistical outlier. Rarely do teams rush the passer as efficiently as the Chiefs did last year yet perform so poorly overall defensively.

The lesson from last year was that coaching matters, not that pass rush doesn't.

It's going to be great when Ford gets hurt again and these guys have nothing to say.

Obviously the defense is going to improve with Spags scheme, Ford would have also improved against the run became an all pro player in it. It’s cool tho instead we’ll have Alex Okafors run defense while Brady throws slants to Edelman, while Ronald Darby watches in a track suit from the sidelines.
Zero sacks after week 9 in 2016. Down the stretch and into the playoffs Dee the Pass Rushing Unicorn disappeared completely.

Dude, Ford lined up off sides multiple times over the years and never learned his lesson. I guarantee you the patriots were in the refs ear because you know they were aware that was part of his profile. At the most crucial point of the most important Chiefs game in decades he repeated a stupid mistake that he's made too many times and it cost us a trip to the super bowl.

That said, one play is not the reason he was traded. He was traded because the risks of giving him a big contract outweighed the potential reward. Building a better defense for the Mahomes era begins now. And it means having a more balanced and more versatile defense full of consistent performers. Ford was a one-dimensional pass rusher and a liability in the run game. He was inconsistent, injury-prone, and had a low football IQ as evidenced by never learning to line up correctly.

I liked Ford and always wanted him to prove the naysayers wrong. And he may do just that in SF. But based on his track record there was no way the team could throw big money at him. The odds of it turning into another albatross of a contract were too good.
