Nzoner's Game Room>Andy Reid is a terrible head football coach
rabblerouser 09:43 AM 09-18-2015
Andy Reid got depantsed in the Super Bowl by Bruce Arians.

Bruce Fucking Arians and Tom Fucking Brady.

Well, you see, Andy Reid is an offensive genius, and how dare we question Andy Reid's genius in not running the ball and not utilizing the screen pass in the face of an epically brutal pass rush, a patchwork offensive line and a QB with a hurt toe?

How dare we question his geniusness?

Oh, and Spags? The "great Brady Killer"? They had his defense figured out by the 2nd quarter and he couldn't adjust it. He was Bob Sutton Jr.

He's the Mike D'Antoni of the NFL. A regular season phenom who's teams are great offensively but can never get it done in the playoffs. There's always an excuse for Andy..."Bad GM"..so they sack Dorsey, "Bad QB"..so they trade Smith, "Bad DC"..so they fire Sutton etc etc. The common denominator in all this is ANDY REID. This is why I'm firmly in the camp of if we lose the same way we have over the last three years In the playoffs then it's time for a change. Enough is enough.

Andy probably cost himself one of his best chances to win a Super Bowl this year (i.e. Mahomes still on his rookie contract, the AFC being relatively down, etc) by going with familiar for his DC (Spags) rather than hiring a legit DC.

Andy wants to be buddies with the players...that's why they are allowed to push a coach in public and commit penalty after penalty without repercussions. It's a total joke.

Now i wouldn't call him one of the greatest HCs of all-time but as far as if he is a good HC he absolutely is. His resume speaks for itself.

We are lucky to have him here. He turned this frachise around.
As long as you are ok with never winning a Super Bowl then you are correct. Andy Reid will get the team to the playoffs 75% of the time but won't ever win the Super Bowl. He is the offensive version of Marty Schottenheimer. If you are ok with that.

He isnt Marty. Reid has already made it to the SB and he barely lost. He struggles in the playoffs, true, but ultimately he isnt the one playing. Gotta put most of the blame on the players.

You dont go to 5 NFC Championship games and turn around two franchises by accident. And if he was so bad no one would want to hire his assisant coaches yet his OCs get hired as HCs all the time.

His blatant disregard for the defense is on a level worse than Vermiel. At least Dick stood and watched the slaughter, big smile on his face and a tear in his eye.

Andys biggest glaring inexcusable weakness is situational football.

Seeing what in happening in the football game, RIGHT NOW, and making the appropriate calls.

Most recent example, punting on 4th and 13 with 5 minutes to go in the game.

EVERY MOTHER FUCKER ON THE PLANET knew that if we punt that football there, we never get it back.

Our chances of winning the game rested on Mahomes converting that 4th down, and Andy pulled him off the field.

The chiefs were demolished in TOP by a record margin. What could he possibly think the D was going to do other than surrender 8 more first downs?

Perhaps if hed been watching the game, seeing the d getting absolutely back alley bludgeoned all game, instead of sitting on the bench, he may have been able to understand how utterly fucked we were if we gave the ball back.

Just mind numbingly stupid inability to comprehend the current game situation.

Andy Reid doesn't know how to manage a close game with under 5 minutes remaining. He will never get it.

That's just because no one passes the ball on us, because they don't have to...we're 32nd in first downs surrendered. That's about as bad as it gets for a defense.

There is no doubt that Smith and Sutton were crap.

With that said, Reid should draw up plays and that's it. An OC could then call plays out of his (Reid's) playbook, with a defensive-minded HC and a GM who has more than 5 pubes.

Out of the last ten SBs, five HCs came from an offensive background, three from a defensive background. And of those three, Belichick won three times. And it could be argued that Bill is nearly as much of an offensive mind at this point as he is a defensive mind.

the idea that you have to have a defensive-minded HC to win a SB died a quiet death more than 10 years ago.

absolutely - and even though he has a defensive background, BB has tremendous input in his offense, because he's a well-rounded HC.

I say a defensive-minded coach because he would offset the hypothetical OC calling plays drawn up by Reid. It won't ever happen, but's it's a nice masturbatory fantasy.
