Nzoner's Game Room>2019 Free agency Thread
O.city 03:24 PM 02-05-2019
We don't really have one of these yet, so figured we could use this as a place to discuss potential free agent acquisitions and what we would like to look for them to bring in.

If any of you guys are interested, heres a good place to do some research.

The problem with that is signing them after tagging them. Tag them, play them then let them walk or sign them. Don't tag then sign.
Why would you tag him if you don't intend to trade him OR sign him? There isn't a single Chiefs franchise player in the last 20 years (that I can find) that walked. They all either signed or went to another team.

I think you're off. I think Ferguson is going to be a star.

But we'll see.
My take on Jones? :-)

Nobody was pounding the table for Jones harder than me. I got laughed at for calling him a top 15 talent.

Brandon Albert was tagged a year then walked IIRC.

For all of the angst and ire around here about Berry and Houston, guess who the last 2 Chiefs players to play under the franchise tag were...

Oh that's right, Berry and Houston.

He's either worth keeping or he's not. If he's worth keeping, sign him. If his not, tag him and trade him.
Or maybe they need the tag to see his fit as 4-3 DE.

IIRC, the player before that to be tagged was Albert the year they drafted Fisher.
Right and they let Albert go.

They tagged Bowe and signed him. They tagged Hali and signed him.

No, not at all. That was DJ.

Also, I don’t hate Ferguson and I’d be on board if he made it to the 2nd. I just don’t see the athelticism or bend of a 1st round edge rusher. I also think he’s a better fit at SDE where I think Speaks will flourish.

You don't spend more than $15M on an experiment. That's just dumb.

ah. Right on. Anyway, I like Ferguson. I think he's a more athletic Hali. Hali just kind of had that one rush, but was high motor about it. I think Ferguson moves better, with more lateral agility while still having that power and bull rush as an option.

Fair enough; I think he's a little better than you do. And with Jones next to him, I think you might end up wanting a little beefier guy there than a strictly speed/edge guy as the answer for an opposing offense will be to run right at them.

Agree on Speaks, I think he's going to do well at LDE.

I skimmed through this all I'm gonna say is if this team pays 37 million dollars for a season of Houston and Ford that is an epic fail.

Just about everybody is in agreement that they shouldn’t/can’t do that and it’s definitely not going to happen either way...
