So I'm not going to post pics, it doesn't photograph for shit. But here's the recipe:

1 lb. ground beef, browned and drained
1.5 lbs potatoes, diced large
3 carrots, sliced
1 onion, diced
1 garlic clove, minced (I had this on hand already)
1 (6-oz.) can tomato paste
2 cups water
1 tsp. salt
¼ tsp. pepper
1 tsp. onion powder
1 tsp. dried oregano

Add the cooked ground beef, potatoes, carrots, onions, and garlic to a 5-quart or larger slow cooker.

In a small bowl whisk together the tomato paste, water, salt, pepper, onion powder and oregano. Pour this mixture over everything in the slow cooker. Stir.

Cover and cook on LOW for 6-7 hours, without opening the lid during the cooking time.
Overall, it's a good, simple hamburger stew.

I'd do a few things different. First, I'd go fewer potatoes, more carrots. Add a bay leaf or two. Onions and garlic should be sauteed, not straight into the slow cooker. It also needs more water, probably 3 c. total.

We use the low sodium versions of the recommended and cut it in half for the packaged mixes. Still tastes ok to me.

Wasting a good beer when it does absolutely nothing to the chicken......terrible.

Adds moisture? Could be used to put out a fire in an emergency? :-)

Why? I'm not poor. Using a few dollars worth of beer isn't hurting anything.

Beer is beer. I'll drink Bud Ice or top dollar IPAs. Don't waste a beer on a yardbird when it doesn't do shit.
