What Restaurants did you grow up around? I'm not talking super fancy and yes fast-food counts. What distinctive memories do you associate with them?
Mine?
Taco Via-(the lit up menu of the various taco plates displayed on the wall), WhiteCastle-On a paper plate with fries and Pepsi, Arthur Treachers(off Noland), Tippins(off Noland), Perkins(the free toy well), Country Deli(awesome local deli to Blue Springs heated sandwiches on Sourdough buns), Zarda BBQ and Dairy, FunHouse Pizza(of Course)(Dark. Video- Games,Electonic Riding Bull and 25-cent Taco night) Annes Sante Fe.
Keep in mind I never see these anymore living in Georgia. [Reply]
There was a restaurant in CoMo back in the day that I miss. Alexander's. You picked out your steak and there was a big fire pit\grill that you could cook your own steaks. For those that didn't want to cook there own they would also do it for you. Had some great steaks there. [Reply]
Smax or Smacks in Metcalf South Mall. They had a topping bar with a bunch of different crap you could put on your burgers. Also Chutes at the corner of 103rd and Metcalf that was an old bank and they served your food using the tubes. Both places sucked by the way which is why they are gone. [Reply]
Also those Nikerson Farms places on the highway that had glass beehives on the side of the restaurant. Nothing like having to walk past swarms of bees on your way in to eat. [Reply]

There was a Churtes in Shawnee too. Dang that place was bad. I remember Smacks was closed down because they were using horse meat mixed with the beef. [Reply]

My brother worked sat Chi-Chi's. During his training the head waitress training him said,"Sometimes we are out of something on the menu. Don't get flustered. Just say "We ain't got no none of that." [Reply]

We had both a Chutes (not for very long) and a Smak's in Grandview too. [Reply]
Fletcher's Hickory Pit. It was on the corner of Sunshine and Scenic here in Springfield. It was like a big barn and it had these support post that were beautiful. I was young but those post were either finished driftwood or just finished tree trunks. Place had cool beer lights with one looking like a waterfall. Way cool back in the late 60s and early 70s.
