I am re-watching the Matrix. When it came out in 1999, there were some reviews that I didn't watch. I saw it a few years later, and because I had no clue, when I did watch it, it FLOORED me. Total surprise.

Similar to the 6th sense. Blew me away, again.

What other movies have done that?

Please no spoilers:-)

Has to be The Sixth Sense for me, that really threw me for a loop

Didn’t see it coming at all, spent the rest of that night wondering “am I dead and don’t know it too?”

I just watched American Psycho.

I must admit it didn't do much for me. He was a crazy dude and killed people. Right at the end he was talking to his attorney who was calling him by a different name. Yet all his pals were still calling him Bateman.

Dunno, I didn't see any "holy crap" moment.

I was at work multi tasking and might have missed the ah crap moment.

Throw in L.A. Confidential - when Dudley killed Jack, and with his dying breath he threw the clue that would enable Ed to crack the case. Brilliant.

I’ll never forget the ending when I was a kid to Soylent Green. I was probably 10 or so when I first saw it.

The 3 biggest “Oh my Gawd WTF?” Didn’t see it coming endings to me, in no particular order:

The Sixth Sense

Usual Suspects

The Game

It has been a while since I saw it but yeah, I remember feeling similar to what you are saying here while everyone else was like this shit is the bomb.

My list is

Seven
Sixth Sense
Fight Club

Not a huge twist ending but I love it and not many people have seen it but Mr. Brooks. Kevin Costner as a psycho is ****ing awesome!

Another Costner movie with a twist is No Way Out.

Back in the day it was easier to go into films not knowing anything about them.

In the 70's horror films were like the exorcist or Carrie. I thought Alien was going to be a straight up Sci-Fi flick like 2001. Boy was I surprised.

Usual Suspects and Brazil are a good call.

I'd put A Beautiful Mind on this list also.

Chinatown, for a way back example.
