Mitch's raw enthusiasm is so great. He's a mediocre cheeseball at his worst but peak Mitch is pretty hard to top.

The offense proved it could put together key drives on an off night and score TDs in the red zone, without it's best weapon.

Our achilles heel last year, getting beat via the pass when trying to protect a lead, was rendered moot, against a team that destroyed a 14-point lead at Arrowhead last season.

This team has made strides. It is ready to slay it's demons.
The running game won't generally beat us - it NEVER will when the offense is clicking.

But when the offense is off, our margin for error diminishes to just about nothing in a heartbeat and that's how the Titans game happens.

The Chiefs offense can neutralize an opponents running game, but when it's not humming, the defense absolutely has to be able to stop the run on 1st and 2nd down. They have to put teams behind the sticks or they will lose.

So we can't just hand-waive the weaknesses against the run because the offense without a viable running game of it's own has shown a far greater tendency to flame out for extended periods of time this year.

except that the chiefs offense wasnt clicking and the running game still didn't beat us

statistically, they didnt have a great night, but in terms of how the running game actually affected that game, the defense held it's own

What happened in the 50 yard completion to Williams?!

Looks like Charvarius Ward actually DUCKS out of the way of what seems to have been a possible INT. WTF? has this been discussed?

Because the defense actually stood up just often enough to make it harder on the Chargers.

And if LAC had benched Rivers before the game and replace him with {checks notes}....Tyrod Taylor?!?! Oh shit, if Taylor is the QB we definitely lose that game. We get Alex Smith'd into oblivion by god-awful check-downs, a weird hybrid run game and a general lack of risky throws and thus INTs.

Don't understate how god-awful Phillip Rivers was Monday. The Chiefs run defense did step up just enough at times to put it in his hands and he blew it. But if they don't step up (i.e. if we inexplicably deactivate Pennel again), then Rivers doesn't go out there chucking YOLO balls and we lose.

Oh c'mon.

Ward had already tried to undercut the throw because he mis-read the ball. Look at that 'push off' - Ward's body barely reacts to it. That's one of those pushes that happens on every contested catch. If they start throwing flags on that, it's just not football anymore.

Ward was in Williams pocket, got overly aggressive and misread the arc on the ball. Shit happens, but that was a mistake by Ward and not some egregious missed call by the refs.

Interesting...so was this some of Mom's home cooking or did this get caught earlier and they then allowed him to go back home before they announced the suspension?

Actually GM Telesco said it happened in off season...so why did they wait until now to suspend?
