Dogs would have gone extinct a long time ago if they hadn't evolved the ability to overcome whatever it is they eat. :-)

The best news out of all that is now you don't have to buy a new spoon.

Works just as good as it ever did.

My Mama Cat passed away a few years ago, she'd go outside when she wanted and never left the yard. I have a little girl cat named Ginger now, and she goes out occasionally, but not for long, and she stays close to the house too. i don't live on a busy street, so that helps as far as car danger. Really sucks to have a pet hit by a car or killed by a dog. Really sad when either happens.
My house sits 250 feet off of the road, albeit a busy road. My little girl cat had never been close to it (to my knowledge), but my boy cat I knew had. It appeared that she followed him over there on that particular night, and didn’t make it to the other side like he did.

Few things have ever broke my heart like that. There’s a feeling of ‘What could I have done? Why didn’t I see this possibility and do something about it?’... got an invisible fence coming in this week sometime which will be used for my boy and the new girl that we soon bring in.

But no matter how safe they will be, I’ll always have that void left because she is gone. I can’t explain how special she was. She loved people and had so many unique traits.

Toonces always stayed right by the front of my place. Never wandering to far. I still expect to see him lying by the door when I leave. Every day. Still look around the neighborhood for him too. It's hard. One day, poof, gone.

We have four cats. None of them has ever left the house except to go to the vet. As a result, they tend to associate outside with getting poked and prodded, and don't even try to get out anymore.

IMO, cats should be indoor pets - there are just too many things out there than can kill them. Average life span for indoor only cats is double that of indoor/outdoor cats.

Orange cats are tough to beat! Although I don’t mind any type.

I’m in a similar phase myself right now. I keep waiting for her to pop out of every little hiding spot or play area she had. I’d do about anything for it to happen again.

More than happy to take your word on it, but man that totally looks like a boxers head/face... not that it matters as long as she's a good girl, and you love her

So even though we are in the city limits we’ve a really great sized property. So I haven’t skimped on pets for the wife. (She’s got over 200 plants to talk to as well. )

We’ve got 4 cats, 2 dogs, 3 chooks, and a bird (not pictured)

The lil white dog is the only one that’s not a rescue.

Is there a free range chicken thread?

I think atm the chooks are our favourites. They eat the hell out of corn, obviously, but grapes my gawd they would eat twice their weight given the chance.

Today has been the first day all year where we've had really nice weather. I snuck out of work an hour early and came home and went for a walk with Dog. We decided to go down to the river and see how much they've dropped it. We've had so much rain and snow lately that they've dropped it so much that the local ferry can't run. It's supposed to drop another 10 feet or so so we may even be able to see the waterfalls that lost when they dammed the river.

Here's Dog resting in the shade. Of course, she wouldn't look at me. The island behind her isn't usually there.

A view towards the bridges downriver. All of that exposed rock is normally underwater.
