In Memoriam>Len Dawson has passed - RIP
Stryker 06:51 PM 08-24-2022
Man I am actually without words. I was 7 years old when the Chiefs won SB 4. I was born in New Orleans and lived there when the event took place in Tulane stadium in NOLA. Luckily, my uncle (my mothers brother) went to that SB and actually gave me the ticket stub many, many years later when he knew I was a die hard Chiefs fan. Lenny "The Cool" was an incredible icon for Kansas City and I personally admire ALL that he has given to your city. He is an absolute LEGEND and will be sorely missed. God rest his soul and may he truly RIP. Thank you Len Dawson for all of the memories and devotion you gave to the town of Kansas City.

Bon Voyage Lenny. The coolest cat from my youth who wasn't a guitar player.

I'd be curious what Pos wrote after the 19 SB. He was the ultimate homer and reading whatever he spit out after the event should have been thing 1 I did the day after. I didn't though.

Always loved Pos.

Been a sad day today and really haven't handled the news well Lenny was such an Icon to me. I felt nearly as bad as I did losing my father in 2006 and my sister then mother in 2021.

Len put what was jokingly considered a cowtown on the map the Alliance Ohio Lad who became an adopted Kansas Citian. Now the younger generation has what us kids of the 60s and 70s had. Lenny was our pride and joy, and you have your legend in Patrick Mahomes now. Lenny will be watching it from above.

This fellow Dad filmed in color Superbowl I see any similarity to Patrick?

My grandpa was at Super Bowl I with his 8mm film camera and saw Len Dawson play. Wanted to share some of his footage today

The pride of Alliance, Ohio he often credited his good fortune to being the seventh son of a seventh son.

Stram resurrected his career as Lenny led the Dallas Texans to the 1962 AFL Championship

His photographic memory of play calls, protections, & all the intricate details of decades-old games was remarkable.

A trailblazing broadcaster, he began his TV career while still playing QB for Kansas City

And when you put Leonard Ray Dawson in the radio booth with @mitchholthus … Well, those broadcasts were just magic!
