I can’t believe I missed this thread.
It’s quite likely the Jets didn’t sign him - not because he wasn’t good - but because the civil case was still outstanding. He was dropped from that in December. Hence, Chiefs signed him not long after.
So it had absolutely nothing to do with his ability. The very fact that the Chiefs signed the guy in the first place and let Townsend walk should’ve been your first clue.
I can’t believe there’s a world where we just signed that guy and someone thinks we might draft a punter.
