That's 45,000 people dead in one month. While basically the entire country was shut down.

Our country is nowhere near shut down. Our "shut down" is half assed at best.

Not everywhere is the same.

Isn’t the worry that if you open areas that aren’t bad they will become bad?

Pretty costly and financially devastating half assed attempt then. I would hate to see the impact of a full ass attempt.

Right. What happens if a lesser-affected county opens? People from more-affected counties travel to the open ones.

It’s great in theory, but implementation is much more complicated.

I kinda wonder if we’d have been better off with a full scale one earlier for less time?

Somewhat.

Isn't the whole point to "flatten the curve" and not overwhelm hospitals, not prevent everything everywhere?

That is an interesting debate but it wasn't and isn't feasible, we don't have the type of government control China does so if you tried it here people would still not listen and do stupid shit etc.

The problem is the stupid long incubation period of this thing. If it hit faster, this all would be WAY easier.

Yes

Which we’ve seemingly squashed so it would be smart imo to start slowly opening back up and Monitoring what works

IMHO that's exactly what we should have done.

The problem is it’s a novel highly infectious respiratory virus and you can’t stay locked down forever
