I get a Cutlerian vibe from this guy. Seems to be built like a franchise QB. Powerful arm, some beautiful passes, perfect bodytype. But he is lacking an "it" factor, is he not? He's not a world-beating, overcome-the-odds, particularly spiriting QB. Looks like he could have an okay career in the NFL in which he wins nothing of consequence.
Well if there was one Andy Reid QB in this entire draft, it's Trubisky, isn't it? Super accurate, doesn't take too many risks with the ball, is very mentally tough and very athletic. He's a slam dunk for the Chiefs to trade up for, if he lasts to the 20s, but in a QB-starved NFL with at least 6 new head coaches looking for their QB, there's no chance he lasts to us. [Reply]
There is a retarded stigma attached to Texas Tech’s offense. Jared Goff played in the same offense at California and went #1. I think anyone who drafts Allen will have a ton of work to do with him. He is more of a project than Mahomes. [Reply]

The Browns should draft Wyoming quarterback No. 1 overall, a high-level NFL personnel executive told cleveland.com, and ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. feels the same, according to his first mock draft released on Thursday.
The NFL exec, who told cleveland.com at the Senior Bowl in January of 2016 that the Browns would be set for the next 15 years if they drafted Carson Wentz, said "Allen is the best and it's not even close.''
He ranks him ahead of USC's Sam Darnold, whom most experts believe the Browns will draft at No. 1; and UCLA's Josh Rosen, whom many have the Giants taking at No. 2.
"I believe (John) Dorsey will block out the noise and take the best guy (in Allen),'' said the exec. "And the Browns will be good very soon.''
He also said "the best comp for Allen (6-5, 233) is Big Ben (Roethlisberger) when he came out of college.''
He added that he never saw Darnold "as a No. 1.''
Kiper surprised a lot of folks by going with Allen to the Browns at No. 1 overall in his Mock 1.0 on Thursday -- and fellow ESPN expert Todd McShay didn't fight him on it.
"When you look at who finished the strongest of the top three quarterbacks, he did,'' said Kiper. "You can say, 'Well, he had the shoulder injury.' He did. But he came back from the shoulder against Central Michigan and he lit it up. Made NFL throws, showed tremendous competitiveness. Remember, beginning of the year, they were missing key starters at running back, wide receiver, tight end and center. That's why he had some struggles against Iowa starting out the season.''
If Dorsey does want Allen that damn badly, he has to trade for Alex and allow Allen to sit behind him for 2 years minimum IMHO. That's the only chance in hell that guy maybe pans out. [Reply]

Kiper not concerned with Allen's completion percentage: "You've got to look beyond the stats. Stats are for losers, in my opinion. ... You have to watch the tape, look at every throw. They'll find that completion percentage was a little misleading."

So you want us to make exceptions for Allen but not for Mahomes having a losing college record because his defense was the worst in CFB.
