Netflix is the best, then Hulu, then Amazon. The best part about Amazon is that it has all the old HBO shows and it's built into your Amazon Prime account.
Which shows on Netflix do you not appreciate? [Reply]
To answer your question Holladay, i use all 3, and i feel like you need all to have an all encompassing library. Amazon, Netflix and Hulu. Between those 3 you have most bases covered.
I also have HBO Now as well. A good free app that doesn't get any attention is Crackle. I don't use it often (mostly because it's a slow load on my FireTV Stick) but it's improved a lot, has some neat features and a robust library.
You can also get Netflix to filter programming that you prefer at the top of your lists and reccomendations by simply making suggestions, and well, using Netflix. It'll make recomendations based on your viewing history.
If someone in your home is also using your Netflix account, then make them a separate profile and demand that they use their own profile, that way your profile won't start recommending Soap Operas because you wife has been watching them.
Sorry, i can't help but to add my commentary here: But Netflix is no different than Cable television: If you don't like something, don't watch it. There's plenty of content there that's suited to your tastes. Netflix isn't forcing you to watch "liberal" content, and the more it gets to know you, the more it'll put content you like in the forefront. [Reply]
I don't know if you realize this, but one of the cool things you can do with Netflix is choose what you would like to watch. Posted via Mobile Device [Reply]

Not true. Last time I turned on Netflix, a big red librul blob morphed out of the TV and held me down with my eyes wide open.
It would only play Queer Eye and Michael Moore documentaries. Just wait until it happens to you! You won't appreciate what Netflix has become either! [Reply]

At least you didn't assume that blob's gender or you would have really been in trouble. [Reply]
There's a new (to my knowledge) streaming site called Philo. It's available on Roku and probably other services. For $16/month it offers 33 channels of things I like. No bitching news people or crappy sports channels. It does offer channels like Science, History, Discovery, etc., and AMC, IFC for movies. That's just a few. You might check it out. It works for me. Agreed. But I won't buy from Dick's Sporting either. Same applies to Netflix.

I love the original series. That is about the only things I watch. Here's the main problem, whenever I search for a movie title, they don't have it: Young Frankenstein, Dead Pool, Animal House, Monty Python and The Holy Grail etc.
It seems that I try to find a movie/show, I flip through all the choices and not many entice me. This the genesis of my question.

I realize that and it is pretty cool.
I am a Amazon Prime member. I delved into it a tad. I need to research it more. Thus again my main question. [Reply]

There are tons of alternatives that offer a wide variety of entertainment, some of it free or cheaper than Netflix.
Costing only $12.99 per month, Amazon Prime Video is considered one of the best alternatives to Netflix. There's also Hulu, with plans starting at $7.99 a month.
VUDU is another good movie-streaming choice. It doesn't have a subscription fee, so you only pay for what you rent or buy. Movie rentals range from 99 cents to $5.99.
For people who like independent movies, classic films, and award-winning titles, there's MUBI, which costs $5.99 per month. Christians and families can enjoy movies with a faithful twist on PureFlix for $10.99 a month, with the first month free.
Fandor specializes in indie, foreign, and documentary films and costs $10 a month.
Popcornflix has a good selection of movies and TV shows and is absolutely free. Crackle also offers free movie and TV streaming.

I don't know about you, but with all the great alternatives out there, my family can definitely live without Netflix.
