Nzoner's Game Room>One penality for 5 yards against the Pats
BlackOp 09:31 PM 10-14-2018
NFL wanted to keep the Chargers close...I figured this was the case.

Edit* My bad...NE had ZERO penalty yards...AR declined a token 5 yarder.

Will have to check to see the last time that has happened..if ever.

A random thought came into my head about the Speaks play... How many defenders in the NFL don't drag down the QB in that situation? Yeah, there was a flag thrown however if Brady is running, there can't be holding (or I don't know the rules). Brady could have fumbled or gotten injured. If it were Mahomes, would the defender have been thinking about it?

Not specific to the Patriots, the rules concerning the offense and when/where/how a defense can tackle the quarterback have become unfair. It rewards bad line play and quarterbacks that stand like a statue in the pocket.

Football is becoming unrecognizable to me.

It also rewards the statue QB's, being mobile gets you less calls, being young gets you less calls cause they think the younger guys can 'take the hits" or haven't earned the calls.

My point really is this.....it might not be fair, but DB's need to know what they are up against. If you are beat you need to try something besides grabbing his arm, or worse in Nelson's case, tackling him. Something has to be better than that because what they did is a lock for a penalty. Some teams can get away with it, we aren't that team.
That’s fair. I can’t say I really disagree with that. It’s just frustrating from a defensive perspective that guys that otherwise can’t get separation get away with it.

Have you watched Sutton for the Broncos this year for example? It’s all he does.

You don’t see Kelce or Hill pushing off because they don’t need it.

I'm not going to complain about the officiating for this game. Both sides got away with a few penalties. There was a very blatant block in the back on Smith's long kickoff return. What I'm trying to figure out is how we end up playing at Pittsburgh and at NE nearly every time. Isn't that supposed to rotate? Wewon the division the past 2 years and played the Pats there both times. I just looked at the future scheduling for next year. We play the same place finisher of the AFC East away. Assuming that the Chiefs and Pat's win their division, that's 3 years straight at New England. Where is the rotation?? 2020 we get NE at home. 2021 we get AFC East same place finisher at home. But will Brady even be playing then? Doubtful. And if he is, how good will he be? Hopefully we get them at Arrowhead in the playoffs. Because it's not happening anytime soon in the regular season.

Good point.

I also think PI should change. No penalty should be worth 40 or more yards ever.

They need to change it to something like half the distance to the goal if it’s a bomb and beyond midfield.
