I don't remember, but did they foreshadow the speeding semi like that in the original?
The first time i saw the original i was a little kid and i recall being completely surprised by semi/toddler scene. I don't recall any foreshadowing like that. Then again, i was a kid, so i probably wouldn't have noticed it anyway. [Reply]

Oh yeah. Big time. The kid almost gets it in the very first scene except Fred Gwynne grabs him.
I know this because I watched it with the wife last night. Hadn't seen it in years and she had never seen it. Might be the worst acted film (Outside of Gwynne who of course was awesome) I've ever seen. I was seriously shocked. I remembered liking it. Does NOT hold up. This looks worlds better. The only way it could possibly be a downgrade is the neighbor, but Lithgow is fucking awesome, too. [Reply]
I read the book before I saw the first movie - the movie didn't even come close to doing the book justice - although it was... passable. I'll admit I would have probably liked it more had I not read the book.

Weird thing is that Stephen King wrote the screenplay. He really needs to stick to books and keep his hands off the movies and television. [Reply]

Pet Sematary is probably my favorite King book - either that or The Stand. I used to read all his books, as well as other horror books by Dean Koontz and another author whose name I can't remember. But I was so put off by the ending of It that I never read another King book, and soon abandoned the genre altogether.
But Pet Sematary was awesome. Louis's final trip to the burial ground was particularly amazing. And while most of the movie did a good job in capturing the feel of the book, it absolutely fell on its ass in that part - wasn't scary at all, just cheesy and lame with horrible special effects. That all but ruined the film.
Hopefully the new movie will improve on that. Drastically. [Reply]

Do yourself a favor and read 11-22-63 by King,I think you'd thoroughly enjoy that one and his son Owen wrote the ending.Not what I would classify as horror but two thumbs way up. [Reply]
Doubt I see this,wasn't a big fan of the book or first movie.Wished Hollywood would bring Salem's Lot to the big screen hopefully done right.Been made for tv not once but twice and they ****ed it up both times. [Reply]
