They've had Randal Cobb, Jordy, Adams, etc. It's been a bit of a dry spell of late for sure, but I'm putting some of that on McCarthy (as we've now seen, he was more problem than solution).
The logic of "they didn't win a SB with it, it's wrong" is just flawed. Shit happens. They were a fucked up bounce of an onside kick away a few years ago.
There's not one way to do this.
They've literally wasted a decade of Rodgers career by investing in RB's and linemen instead of WR's.
And you know what the ironic part of that is, considering the whole argument here is about protecting our $500M investment?
Aaron Rodgers has had TWO season-ending injuries in the last 8 years, including one just 3 years ago. [Reply]
The Saints have waisted a decade by drafting and signing Wr's though too. There's no one way to skin a cat here. Shit is just hard to do.
Wut?
Saints:
1st round pick 2020: Cesar Ruiz - C
2nd round pick 2019 (no 1st): Erik McCoy - C
1st round pick 2017 (they had 2): Ryan Ramczyk - T
1st round pick 2015: Andrus Peat - T
That's just going back 5 years and just looking at 1st round picks. [Reply]

So, about the same as KC right?
Schwartz was a highly paid FA
Fisher
Morse 2nd rounder
The Cheifs actually have invested quite a bit in the OL via money and such.
Saints have one more higher round pick though. [Reply]

....and he's mediocre. Better then what we have currently but still not what you'd like out there idealy. Still, him and Niang will bring the floor up from where we currently are at. [Reply]

Yeah but in a year where the cap might be flat and the Chiefs are already right up against it, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
You'd be hard pressed to replace him at his current salary and then when you add in the dead cap hit, there's just no way he isn't here and in the mix when camp starts. [Reply]

Yeah. I get it. He'll most likely have to do in 2021. I'm hoping that Niang can take hold of 1 of the tackle spots (probably RT). I was re-reading his draft profile recently and forgot that we got him at a discount. His injury concerns dropped him lower than where he should've went.
That, plus a C will put our line in order. Also it'd be great if we can get a decent pricetag from Fisher. He was off this year so that should mean a reasonable contract for him. I'd hope. [Reply]

He was "off"? I feel like he's been the only thing that wasn't. He has a good PFF grade and he made the Pro Bowl. I realize the Pro Bowl is about worthless, but you know his agent is looking at that. He's 30 years old, so could be his last big contract. If he discounts at all it would only be because he wants to keep playing for the Chiefs. [Reply]

He played ok when he played. Pro bowl is a popularity contest. You wanna impress? Make the all pro team. That's are voted on by people who get paid to pay attention, not fans.
I'm not saying he plays for the minimum btw. I think there's a happy medium. For example, Trent Williams for the niners is a UFA this season, there's no way that Fisher should make more than him.
