Snyder's Man of Steel, which rebooted the Superman franchise, has grossed north of $600 million worldwide since it hit theaters this June.

According to two sources with knowledge of the movie, Warner Bros. intends to announce the news at its Comic-Con International panel Saturday morning. Said a Warner Bros. spokesperson, “We don’t comment on rumors regarding these properties.”

“Man of Steel” director Zack Snyder is expected to reunite with screenwriter David S. Goyer and star Henry Cavill for the new film. It’s unlikely Christian Bale will step back into the bat suit, as the actor has indicated publicly that he has moved on from his days as Bruce Wayne.

“Man of Steel” producer and “Dark Knight” trilogy director Christopher Nolan is expected by some to produce the project, but the exact nature of his involvement is unclear.

The move marks the culmination of years of effort on the part of Warner Bros. and DC Comics to bring their superheroes together in a similar fashion to their primary competitor Marvel, which successfully combined its superheroes into a $1.5-billion box-office hit with “The Avengers.”

In the comic world, the two heroes are teaming up in a new series, “Batman/Superman,” by writer Greg Pak and artist Jae Lee.

I believe the Robin in this comics storyline was female.

I know she was in the cartoon.

Spoiler!

Rumor floating today based on a still of what's supposedly an image from an upcoming trailer that the movie is being split into 2, with part one in late October this tear and part two in late March 2016.

I think it makes sense from a logical standpoint, 2 films makes more sense than cramming so much into one movie, but releasing early seems far-fetched to me. If it is real I feel really sorry for the effects guys.

That blows. It's better when movies like these are standalone because it forces the writing to be tighter. You can always tell when they're phoning it in and trying to milk it (cough hobbit)..

Saw it was debunked cause the url in the image that was floated was incorrect for the movie site. Plus 'enter the knight' domain name isn't owned by WB

I'm not saying it's real but that link is just that guy saying he doesn't think it is, based on basically nothing. Even if his gut feeling makes sense (and it does) it's about as solid as the original rumor...

Should know for sure around the time the trailer hits, or sooner if the studio decides to comment. I still lean toward not true myself, but my reasoning is that to me the October date for release of part one doesn't make sense/seem possible.
