Yes I'm sure the vaccine makers simply put their goods in the open market with a fixed price tag and no machinations or leverage behind the scenes was applied by the US govt.

So good job team USA on that front.

Now given that those doses actually had to go into arms to do any good and that was clear six months ahead of time, team USA could have done a better job preparing for that.

But things are ramping up.
I don't think the logistics of handling a vaccine that needs to be kept in sub zero temperatures with a very short shelf life were known 6 months prior to the vaccine being approved.

Here is an article on the complexity.

Hospitalizations around here are creeping back up ever so slightly.

You'll probably see a spike upwards in a couple of weeks after spring break as well.

For the first time since last spring out of our 800+ employees and family we have ZERO employees out on quarantine for any reason (family and kids) and we have ZERO positive cases.

An Indian vaccine is coming for your children:

https://www.reuters.com/article/heal...-idUSL4N2LD1FF

Excerpt:

Musunuri said COVAXIN had the potential to work against COVID-19 variants and Ocugen could initially focus on children as it was likely to be safe for those over the age of 12, while shots produced by other drugmakers targeted adults.

“Like a polio virus given to babies, this could be safe for all children, high-risk groups, pregnant women and people with comorbidities,” Musunuri said of COVAXIN.

I didn't even know India had a vaccine. They're hoping to get FDA approval in the USA in April.

Dude, get with the times. India has every pharmaceutical you could ever want, and they'll mail it to your house without a prescription.

Well, they usually only contact me when I'm about to get arrested by the Social Security Administration.

My coworker got the first dose of Moderna and was scheduled to get the 2nd does this week but sometime last week got Covid. Currently he has flu symptoms and high temp which started last night.

So much for one dose being protective.

Well we knew it wasn't 100% effective.

Yeah but there was alot of talk about doing only one dose to vaccinate more people because one dose was really good. I would have thought though even with one dose you wouldn't get sick but he has been bed ridden for 2 days so far. And he is a young guy in his 30's.

I hope he gets over it quickly. It really sucks for him because he was just a few weeks away from having even stronger immunity.

Some data has specified that even if you get COVID after getting one dose, the severity of symptoms is reduced. Prayers for your friend.
