There's a huge difference between drinking on the job and drinking after work. After hours social events on company property is pretty widespread in some types of businesses. On top fo that, there is no proof he just didn't grab a few beers from the company stash and headed back to his office alone. [Reply]

This was an act of irresponsibility by Britt Reid. The police report said he was over the blood alcohol limit by a lot and doing over 80MPH when he slammed into the back of the car. The child has brain damage and is on a feeding tube. If she lives her quality of life will be zero. He should go to jail for a long time. But you can't really blame the Chiefs here. But if I’m the injured child’s lawyer, is there any reason not to kick the tires on a potential lawsuit against the Chiefs alleging negligent supervision of an employee who was getting hammered on the job and then caused life-altering injuries to a little kid? The more deep-pocketed defendants you can sue, the better, and if the kid’s family isn’t happy with the initial settlement offers (which should fairly be contemplating payment of a fuckton of money), the discovery process could get brutal for the Chiefs.
