You could fire Matheny and give McGee the interim job. At least I would be happy watching one of my childhood heroes get a chance even if they continue down this path of mediocrity. [Reply]

Remember Pioli's obsession with Cassel? That's DeWitt with Matheny. [Reply]

WTF was he doing? Nothing is done because of this stupidity. Carp getting doubled off 1st. Pham getting picked off of 3rd with the infield back. We deserve a lot better.
Matheny has the 6th most major league experience managing. He’s making the same mistakes from year one. He inherited a tightly played defense and good base running team. The Cardinals have been known for years as a fundamentally sound team. All of that is gone. And we get to watch this boring sloppy baseball team. Matheny is what he is at this point. This is on Dewitt. [Reply]

Comments I saw were:
Lat tendon completely torn off humerus
Teres major completely torn off humerus
Subscapularis partially torn off humerus (rotator cuff)
Believe the rotator cuff injury is what led to the “maybe done forever” part of the speculation. [Reply]

I may not know these advanced statistical metrics used today but I'd say I follow this team more closely than the average fan. I've never heard of this guy. Why did he get this opportunity? He certainty didn't show me shit yesterday.

The Cardinals coming back to win this year much better than the recent teams doesn't mesh with this crap we saw last night and way too many times this year.
How can you not see those two different teams within the same team and not take a serious look at the Manager? [Reply]
Cardinals general manager Michael Girsch said Reyes will be off the mound for six months before he can resume throwing but the team expected him to be ready for spring training in 2019.
The injury is not seen as career threatening.
Girsch said the second opinion that Reyes got from Dr. Anthony Romeo in Philadelphia confirmed what the Cardinals' doctors had seen and surgery was done.
"Based on that exam and the understanding that, because there was some fraying between the lat and the bone, based on that, they decided to do surgery after consulting with our doctors," Girsch said. "He had surgery to reattach the tendon to the bone and the good news is the tendon was partially frayed and not completely torn off which means there was good blood flow which means they're very optimistic for recovery."
