Nzoner's Game Room>Anyone here doing the E-Cig / Vape thing?
pr_capone 03:05 AM 11-17-2013
Thanks to my vape, I've had only one single cigarette in the past 3 weeks. I have zero cravings for them and I feel considerably better. In fact, I still have about 5 smokes left in a pack and just can't see myself smoking those... don't want to.

Even better... 5ml of juice, which costs $5, lasts me about 2 weeks meaning that I am spending less in the long run. I only smoked, at most, a pack a week... but still.

I tried the Blu E-Cigs but they were terrible. Trying to "smoke" out of one of those was like trying to take a hit off a joint that was rolled WAY to tight.

I'm using an eGo-V v2 mega battery with variable voltage control with a gravity tank.

As far as RDTA's go, you can't go wrong with anything from iJoy. The Combo is almost identical to the Limitless Plus. You just have a chuff tip and the option to swap out different style decks with the Combo if you're really into building. You can't go wrong with either. Super easy to build and wick. Unless you turn into one of those building nutjobs like I did I would say get the Limitless Plus.
That's what I'm worried about. Getting way too into building. I love the flavor I get at higher wattage. I'm goofing around on a Horizon Cerakoat tank right at this moment with a coffee/chocolate/strawberry mix at 45 Watts. I was ordering something online and I was ten bucks away from free shipping-they had this tank for eight bucks so I grabbed it with some atomizers. It would have been about six bucks for shipping, so I went with it because all I had was 60-80 Watt stuff on hand and that would give me a 30-50 Watt option. Turns out that the Cerkoat coils I got are not bad at all for some juices in the 35-45 range. So I'm bouncing around, lol. The Zippo with tobacco flavors at around 12 Watts that lasts about as long as half a pack of smokes and is incredibly convenient to take to work in my pocket. The Evod Pro that is somewhat similar but lasts about as long as two packs of cigarettes. The Sigelei Fuchai 200 Watt+ with an Arctic V8 that I can take up to 150 Watts if I'm feeling stupid, the same mod with the Cerakoat for a milder sub ohm vape. So if I get into RDTA's...oh man.

Oh, before I forget, that Evod Pro will require you to mess with your juice. I go much higher PG and nic with it. Like 70% PG and at least 12+ nic if you want it to feel like smoking.

Honestly, pre-builts these days are about as good as a lot of DIY builds. With the possible exceptions of claptons or aliens. I just got sick of paying $5 per coil for my TFV4 and Arctic V8. At the rate I go through coils and juice I started looking at ways to save money. I chain vape a lot at home with low-nic juice and pre-builts were only lasting me a few days. Building my own was the best option. I can get 30 ft spools of clapton wire and a bag of wicking for $10. Lasts for months. I bought three bags of cotton bacon for $15 close to two years ago and I'm just now running out. I get where you're coming from, though. If you aren't going through pre-builts that quickly and are ok shelling out a little extra for them then getting into RDTA's is probably unnecessary.

Dang. I was getting the Arctic V8 coils for $2.50 each from MyVaporStore.com but it depends on stock. Right now they only have these for $3.95:

Ni200
Bottom Vertical TC Ni200 Coil - Nickel Wire / Japanese Organic Cotton
0.2ohm Temperature Control Range: 212F - 572F

It's a good site but their in-stock merchandise varies wildly. I've never paid $5 for a coil. I'll dig around and buy them ten at a time.

So what's the upkeep cost for a hobby like this?

Depends on how deep you want to go down the rabbit hole and what your goal is. Substantially cheaper than smoking.

Yeah, I had that problem too and had to start getting the coils I wanted at the local vape shop. Probably, why they were $5.

Do the math, though. I get probably 3-4 clapton coils per foot. So a 30 ft spool = 90-120 claptons. For $5. Doesn't get any better than that. I'm a poor college student, though.

On my bad weeks when I chain vape all the damn time its still cheaper than a pack a day cigarette habit.

That is a pretty damn nice return on your money though.

Right. I don't recommend vaping to anyone unless they are already a smoker. The best option is not to do either one. Clean air is healthier and free. But it does beat the hell out of smoking.

Yeah, the vast majority of what I spend on vaping is on juice. Excepting when I shell out for a new mod every year or so.

Well, I am enjoying my EVOD quite a bit still. I am still using the 1.5 Ohm coils and it's pretty nice. So nice that I started missing the Nautilus tanks I gave away, damn it. So...I ordered a Nautilus X tank with the 4 ml extender and some 1.5 Ohm coils to put on my Sigelei Fuchai 200 Watt+ mod. Should be here in a week or so.

Have some extra money burning a hole in my pocket and decided to order some Tenderfoot stands. They look slick.

I have the PAX Era. Super compact. A charge last 2-3 days.

That's one thing I hate about the high watt builds I've been doing lately. The charge doesn't last long. The new Reuleaux 300 helps, though. Takes four batteries. I'll never go anywhere near 300 watts (normally don't go above 60) but I get about a day out of the charge. The charge on the RX200S with three bats lasted about half a day. Those batteries were getting a little old, though.
