Nzoner's Game Room>Anyone here doing the E-Cig / Vape thing?
pr_capone 03:05 AM 11-17-2013
Thanks to my vape, I've had only one single cigarette in the past 3 weeks. I have zero cravings for them and I feel considerably better. In fact, I still have about 5 smokes left in a pack and just can't see myself smoking those... don't want to.

Even better... 5ml of juice, which costs $5, lasts me about 2 weeks meaning that I am spending less in the long run. I only smoked, at most, a pack a week... but still.

I tried the Blu E-Cigs but they were terrible. Trying to "smoke" out of one of those was like trying to take a hit off a joint that was rolled WAY to tight.

I'm using an eGo-V v2 mega battery with variable voltage control with a gravity tank.

I'm getting back to the basics because I don't want to start smoking again and I was getting ridiculous smoking urges. I think this Evod Pro I have coming in tomorrow is going to do it.
I hope so.

I was the same as you. Got caught up in the sub ohm thing for a bit. Not that thats what I wanted, but it seems we were all pushed that direction for a "better vape", but it wasnt for me. I got back to the basics that worked best for me. I build my own coils, usually around 1- 1.2 ohm, and vape around 15w. Its just single coil, simple stuff. kayfuns seem to work well for replicating the smoking experience for me. The older ones may not have enough air flow for some as I even use them with the air flow wide open but its still a mouth to lung draw and great flavor. The newer models 3,4,5 have plenty of air flow for almost everyone, but theres other RTAs that would work just as well.

All the stuff you need is pretty cheap. I like kanthal wire, rayon for wick, but other options are about the same price wise.

Yeah, I do about the same with most of my builds. Normally around 1 with regular kanthal. I've been doing a lot of temp control lately too. Ni .5 ohms around 480 F. My builds and wicks last way longer that way.

Occasionally I'll throw dual SS claptons in at .2 ohm 80 watts for shits n giggles. That goes through juice fast, though. :-)

I use the smok tfv8 cloud beast, with the rba deck. Save a ton of money. Great flavor. And, clouds galore.

I just got my Evod Pro in the mail today. And...I fucking love it. The draw straight out of the box is the same as my little Zippo vape. The size and shape are perfect for an ex-smoker. It takes an 18650 and has a 4 ml tank so this thing is probably going to last a couple of days (or 3) before I have to mess with it. I'm messing with the juice right now to get the best cloud and flavor, and I think I'll be going with something closer to a 50/50 mix, but it's great.

Ah, OK. I have a friend in Sac that's on medicinal. Last I checked with her she gets these brown bulbs with a 510 connection. I grabbed one and put it on my mod, set up the wattage for a good chunk higher than those pens are capable of delivering, and let her puff off of it. Her eyes practically rolled back in her head and she immediately ran out to buy a mod. IIRC she bough an Innokin MVP. You can get a little piece of metal that converts eGo to 510 if yours is eGo threaded. It worked out great for her but you do have to keep an eye on what kind of resistance you are dealing with. I'm out of the loop on THC vaping but from what I remember they run much higher resistances than nic does.

So this is what my Kangertech Evod Pro looks like:

It is slightly less than 6 inches in length and has a 22 mm diameter. It takes a single 18650 battery and has a micro USB port on the opposite side of the fire button for on-board charging if you want to do that (I won't because I'm paranoid and I have a good charger). It has a built in tank with a capacity of 4 mls. The electronics will run the mod at 4.2 volts and this is not adjustable. So you vary your vape by choosing one of the three atomizers currently available: 0.5 ohm gives you 35.28 watts, 1.0 ohm gives you 17.64 watts, and 1.5 ohm gives you 11.76 watts. This is a mouth-to-lung (MTL) vape designed to mimic smoking. There are two small air holes at the top that are not adjustable, and the airflow goes from the top of the tank down into the sides of the atomizer, then over the coils again and up through the center of the chimney. I have found it to be remarkably similar in vape to the Zippo style I referenced earlier. That makes sense because the Zippo created about the same circuit with the same airflow because I am using the 1.5 ohm atomizers. The flavor isn't as good as the Zippo, the Zippo has ceramic coils, but the flavor is there and the draw is very nice. This reminds me of my old Innokin Itaste VV 3.0 when I carry it around although it doesn't fit the hand quite as well. What it does is combine every positive feature of every combo I've tried over the last few years to give me an experience that is very similar to smoking. I got it for $18.95 and I've seen it for around $20 on various websites.

Oh, I forgot to mention this in detail: Kangertech also makes the Evod Pro V2. The main differences between the two are that the V2 has a built in battery, the tank section is exposed (they give you extra glass), and the airflow is adjustable. That didn't fit for me but it might be better for someone who is just looking for something to help them quit smoking. The options for ohms in the coils (0.5, 1.0, 1.5) make for three very different vaping experiences, and all you have to do to change that up is to change the coil. It's a very simple way to give newer people options and you can also adjust the airflow to see what kind of vape you might enjoy. It's the same size as the one I got, which does fit well in the hand, and the shape is quiet comfortable. This is what they look like:

These are the specs:

Dimensions: 5-3/4" x 7/8" (Including Drip Tip)This one is slightly more expensive at the site I typically use ($22.95 for the V2 and only $18.95 for the one I bought) but most other places that I have seen sell them both for the same price. I haven't priced them recently though so there may now be a standard price difference for the two. I would normally suggest an Innokin product instead if you want to go with a built in battery but the closest thing to this that I have seen from Innokin is more expensive, has a weaker battery, and I don't think their coils work as well-I've tried both coils. The Kanger coils have better flavor and more options. So, if you're a smoker looking to get off of smokes with a very simple device that still allows you to play with your vaping style I'd have to recommend the Evod Pro V2.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE sub-ohming, but it's almost like going to the hooka-bar to chill. If I'm tipping back a few, I'll break out my TFV-8 and enjoy. For day-to-day usage, nothing beats the good old-fashioned Nautilius with 1.6 nic and 30% VG. I will be dropping it to 1.2 nic fairly soon now that I have an on-display puff counter.

Yeah, it goes through juice way too quickly to do regularly.

Here's a long (45 minute) video discussing vaping in Canada and England from October of last year. As of this video Canada is anti-vaping and England is pro-vaping. It's kind of interesting because our government seems to be floating around in a somewhat neutral position towards it:

Here's my current setup. Reuleaux RX300 and an iJoy Combo RDTA. I don't know if I'll ever buy another tank. I love the mod too but its not something you can throw in your pocket. I'll have to find something smaller for when I'm out of the house. That Evod Pro looks slick.

I have been looking at RDTA's. Pretty cool stuff. Sounds like it would be great for home use. I'm pretty happy with the EVOD Pro. I would warn you that the 1.5 ohm atomizer may be too weak for you in use. It starts off fine but it does lose power as the battery drains. If you're interested in it I'd suggest getting a couple of 1.5 ohm coils and a couple of 1.0 ohm coils to see which one you like for MTL.

To be clear: For you I'd recommend the EVOD Pro rather than the V2. You obviously know what you are doing and have batteries on hand. The air flow is fine and the amp load on the thing means you can use an 18650 with a much higher mAh than the 2500 that comes built in with the V2.

Thanks for the recommendation. I had an old Evod when they first came out. Loved it. I'll probably snag a Pro this week then.

As far as RDTA's go, you can't go wrong with anything from iJoy. The Combo is almost identical to the Limitless Plus. You just have a chuff tip and the option to swap out different style decks with the Combo if you're really into building. You can't go wrong with either. Super easy to build and wick. Unless you turn into one of those building nutjobs like I did I would say get the Limitless Plus.
