I have seen these in various threads, so I thought we should just put them all together. There are really funny pics out there.

I'm no marine biologist, but that appears to be a dolphin following the dog. That dorsal fin looks too rounded on the back side to be a shark.

From the dark color I was assuming an orca. :-)

Same here and a black lab probably looks like a tasty seal to an orca.

I'm with Brad on this. I'm thinking "playful dolphin" rather than shark out for lunch.

But either is far more likely than orca. It's WAY too small to be an Orca.

You're probably right. At the very end it turns and the coloring looks like a dolphin.

An orca probably would have been coming in hot.

well that would explain a LOT!. like the camera guy just standing there filming while the dog almost gets eaten.
makes a little more sense now.

After posting that I started looking more closely and agree. The distance from its nose to its dorsal fin is about the length of the labs body, meaning if it’s an orca it’s a juvenile. That and I found some pictures of dolphins that have a short snout and dark color like that.
Amnorix 08:42 AM 05-17-2013
In fact, I'll go one further based on the dorsal fin shape -- bottlenose dolphin.

Another look shows that it's CLEARLY not a shark -- you can see the blowhole for a second before it turns.

Not a shark and too small for orca, so gotta be a Dolphin.

My god, that dolphin was about to eat the dog!
