Don't give them any ideas

It's obvious they already had the idea. They fired the most effective manager they've had since TLR because he asked for better pitching. It's pretty obvious they will blame anyone outside of their circle of trust for every issue.

He's doubling down on Marmol despite NO indication that there's anything Marmol is actually good at because he doesn't have a choice. Firing Marmol is a loud admission of his own failures.

Mozeliak has NEVER been willing to do so. Oh sure, he'll offer the standard bullshit platitudes about holding himself and his team accountable - then he'll fire the assistant to the traveling secretary and go from there.

All the 'organizational change' shit they're talking about probably means we'll have a new bullpen catcher next season. There's nobody else on this team they're getting rid of apart from McEwing, who'll probably get off this sinking ship the first instant someone tosses him a life preserver.

It's a stupid, clueless organization that simultaneously lacks the intelligence to understand why they're bad and the humility to accept any such suggestions.

It's truly a perfect storm of incompetence.
Super Joe needs to bail immediately. Mo is super full of shit. Last year he promised they were going to spend more money on payroll and we got Contreras to take Yadi's spot for a very similar salary and they brought the empty husk of Waino back. That's pretty much it. In reality yes they spent a few more dollars but practically they got nothing for it.

Of course - so that tells you who's staying.

Dusty Blake brings nothing. I don't know if he's a bad pitching coach but I know he ain't a GOOD pitching coach. But he was a 'smartest guy in the room' hire from Mozeliak. "Look at this obscure college coach who's done nothing to demonstrate he should have a big league job - I'm gonna look BRILLAINT!" He's not leaving.

Turner Ward should have his bags packed. 2021 assistant; had success with the Dodgers and Reds prior to that. Marmol seems to like him but it just doesn't matter much since he's not a 'find' from Mozeliak. Just a retread that knew Goldschmidt back in the day. He's almost certainly gone. They'll probably just replace him with Brandon Allen since he came from the minor league system. He'll be cheap and do what he's told.

Joe McEwing would be smart to find a new job. Mozeliak might just fire him before he quits so he can 'show accountability' in the organization.

Julio Rangel is the Assistant Pitching/Bullpen coach - sorry guy, Dusty Blake's not going anywhere and the pitching staff sucked dicks, so you're gone.

Stubby Clapp probably gets promoted to replace McEwing.

Or they'll try something like bringing back a former Cardinal, it worked with Skip. Maybe Eckstein or Bo Hart

Neither guy can out-scrappy Stubby Clapp, though. And the broadcasters will love swooning over Stubby in the dugout.

And they know Stubby's phone number. Never underestimate how lazy Mozeliak is. If he has to Google to get ahold of Eckstein or Hart, meanwhile he can just tell H.R. to let Stubby know he got promoted, he's going to go with the latter option every time.

That's probably accurate. I didn't figure in the Mo laziness equation.

At least since they were cooked by tax day I didn't have to spend any emotional energy on them. Better than some 88-74 team that gets bombed out in the wildcard round.

Baker CRUSHED the ball in AAA.

If it's strictly a minor league production award, it's deserved.

Yeah, .334 average, with 34 homers, 98 rbi's (1.159 OPS) in just 314 at bats is pretty impressive even for AAA.

He had shown pop before, but this is a huge uptick for him this year. We have options if we want to trade Goldy and Arenado, just not sure if we could ever dream to get back a fair return with our FO.

A 'fair return' for either of those guys at this point is getting out from under their contracts.

Goldschmidt clearly aged and hit the wall last season to the point of being a barely average starting 1b. Arenado spent most of the season pouting and playing beneath his talent level. With the number of years on his deal coming off a bad season, his value is about nil.

The time to tear it down was at the dealing when Arenado was on fire and Goldy still seemed to have some gas in the tank. We didn't have to stones to do it when there was actual value to get in return. We certainly won't do it now.

It's a stupid organization that needs to burn to the ground before progress can be made.

Remember when the Cardinals were in the playoffs last year and didn't even pitch Jordan Montgomery?
