maybe this time it's not on Mo, maybe he did make a better offer on prospects but Stanton wants to play in Cali.
the Miami newspaper the Herald is saying this today:
Sources said the Marlins prefer the prospects that the Cardinals have to offer versus those of the Giants, who have a weaker farm system. But Stanton gets to make the final call, and the Giants might hold an edge by being closer to his boyhood home in California.

Like I said - if they get the meeting, I'll be less irritated.
But Moe absolutely had a chance to come out of the chute hot and make an offer that could've pushed the Giants off and convinced the Marlins to simply make it a one horse race.
He slow-played it and now he has to sell Stanton on STL over SF. That's a tactical error that could've been avoided, IMO.
Moe did what Moe does - played things too conservatively and it's likely to cost him. Again.
That or he simply didn't really want to get Stanton on this team to begin with. Still the most likely scenario, IMO. [Reply]

l don't know DJ. You know I'm Not a Mo fan but there are multiple reports out there that the Cardinals offered better prospects. It can't be all Mo propaganda.
The Miami herald has no reason to cover for Mo. the Miami FO person who leaked the info to the newspaper would be telling the truth. We would have got more with the Cardinals but it's Stantons call. [Reply]

They probably did offer better prospects, they just didn't offer to take on as much money as well.
Moe could've made it a good enough deal to force the Marlins to call Stanton's bluff. Instead he let the Giants have enough time to get an 'approved' deal put together and now that chance is gone.
He's aggressive when it comes to signing lefthanded relievers to 4 year contracts but when it comes time to get the best RH power hitter of the generation in the lineup...nah, gonna just see how it plays out. [Reply]

Cardinals turn to pitch
#STLCards meeting with Giancarlo Stanton's reps does not necessarily mean trade agreement is in place with #Marlins, but talks have reached serious stage -- as is also the case with #SFGiants. @MLB@MLBNetwork

it would seem by all accounts that the Cardinals offer is better. They got their chance to pitch to Stantons reps. Mo should be able to sell the truth that the Cardinals will be able to put talent around him better than the Giants.
If it's the Giants, it will be because Stanton wants to live in Cali. In this case, l think that maybe, Mo and Dewitt did press hard this time. [Reply]

Not sure how you get by all accounts that its better when it was reported just the other day that the Marlins would accept the Giants offer, but ultimately its up to Stanton to accept a trade. Wouldnt be surprised if he doesnt waive his NTC for either team.
Maybe the prospects are better but from the sounds of it the total offer isn't better. [Reply]
