The memo from NFL EVP/Media Distribution Hans Schroeder did not give a reason for the delay. The schedule release had not been officially announced yet, and the league always maintains a degree of flexibility considering the complex nature of developing the schedule. But some teams had been told informally it was coming Thursday.
Schroeder wrote that more details about activations or other nuances of the plan were expected in the coming days. The league and media rights holders sometimes announce specific high-profile matchups before the full slate is unveiled.
The schedule release has become a key priority for teams and the league in recent years, with teams preparing increasingly sophisticated schedule social content and using it as a starting point for single-game ticket sales.

Yeah, I thought Steelers would open up against Denver lol. [Reply]
NFL schedule leak: Kirk Cousins and the #Falcons will open their season at home vs. Russell Wilson and the #Steelers, per @ZachKleinWSB. That game will also be the first for new Steelers OC Arthur Smith, who immediately faces the team he used to coach. pic.twitter.com/fJlr8U3l7z

The team listed second in an ‘x vs y’ situation is typically the home team. Combine that with the fact that it’s a home game, and it’s a home game. [Reply]
#Jaguars get nice break playing @Bears in London, facing a rookie QB in Caleb Williams in just his 6th NFL game at venue Jags played their best game last year against Buffalo at Tottenham Hotspur.

Or how about that the Chiefs have been scheduled to play the Bengals at home according to the scheduling formula going back to what, 2002? [Reply]

May have, may not have. May be because both won their divisions. [Reply]
NFL will announce tomorrow that #Jaguars will play Bears In away game Oct. 13 at Tottenham Hotspur, then host @Patriots at Wembley on Oct. 20. Browns were early favorite, then rumors of possibly Jets, but NFL settled on Pats
