In the comics Panther is almost like a mix of Dr. Strange and Iron man. In that I mean there are mystical/magical elements to his character while being a very technologically advanced character.
Did they do a good job of showing both sides in the film?... [Reply]

A little bit but not really, IMO. I definitely picked up an Iron Man-Spider Man vibe to his powers and a peacetime Captain America vibe from his persona. It was a pretty cool mix. [Reply]
Amazing film! I thought the little sister stole the show actually. Love her from 'Black Mirror' and 'Humans'. Fight scenes on the waterfall and at the casino were epic in terms of the camera work. [Reply]

I thought the casino fights were shit really. Hard to tell what was even going on. I did like the waterfall fight scenes but they were short lived. I like the movie but not so much I was in awe or anything. I would definitely give it a solid 7 or 8 out of 10.
Spoiler!
One of the other things I didn't like, when Killmonger(sp?) breaks Klaue out of prison, The Black Panther takes one shot and doesn't continue the chase although they went to all this trouble just to capture him.

Yeah, not a lot of mysticism besides one thing in the spoiler. He was more advanced Batman to me. A regular man without any inert powers with generations forward tech.

uhhhh
Spoiler!
he cant be captured by Klaue. He's a plot device to create division between the tribes. Now they could have easily wrote in a more legitimate reason for his get away

What do you mean he can't be captured by Klaue? I understand the value of why he got away, they just made it to easy. Panther took one blast from some gun that Warmonger had that knocks him down. He proceeds to get back up but never makes chase. Uhh... oh well, we just flew half way around the world and tore up a casino and endangered a bunch of peoples lives only to lay down the moment someone blast me with some sort of pulse cannon even though I can get right back up after being hit by it.

going under the sand to see his dad and ancestors
He had to lean on his sister who is the smartest person in the MCU, so he's more James Bond IMO. [Reply]
Anyone look at Rotten Tomatoes score recently? It says it has a 77% audience score right now. If you look under the audience reviews they have the "There are no featured audience reviews yet. Click the link below to see what others say about Black Panther!". I have never seen anything like that for a movie of this nature. If you click the link it is taking you to some reviews but then you also see a lot of five stars stating things like "man, can't wait to see this!" and "The trailer looks amazing!". It looks like it is counting people who are just saying they want to see it. [Reply]

There are actually groups out there intentionally giving it 1 star ratings because they are racists. This is a known phenomenon based on social media.
Of course there are also I'm sure a lot of people rating it higher because it stars black people. Social justice and all.
Not sure if these groups cancel each other out or not. At the end of the day, it seems to be regarded as a good movie by most people, and I'm not sure why anyone would expect much more than that from a superhero/comic book movie.
I have my IMAX tix for Friday, and can't wait to see it. [Reply]

yes, it’s becoming a problem. I can show anyone here how to build a bot in an afternoon. Program it to make thousands of posts every day under hundreds of different names and you don’t have to do a thing. Ever again.
If you motivated for political/social/racial reasons, those numbers go up. [Reply]
