Spoiler Alert: Don’t read further if you don’t want to know about a key addition to Suicide Squad …
Spoiler!
How’s this for a news Flash: Due to a last-minute bout of filming, The Flash will be making an appearance in Suicide Squad, Warner Bros.’ heavily-hyped DC superhero movie that opens in one week, according to several sources.
Ezra Miller, who plays the hero, recently wrapped shooting a scene that will be inserted into the movie, which bows Aug. 5. It is unclear whether the scene was shot in April, when the movie underwent over a week of reshoots, or more recently.
Warners had no comment.
The scene, according to sources, will not be an end credit insert but in the movie itself.
Suicide Squad, which counts Will Smith, Jared Leto and Margot Robbie amongst its ensemble cast, already has enormous audience interest and is tracking to debut to a $125 million opening weekend, if not significantly higher.
But the fact that Warner Bros. added The Flash late in the process is a testament to how it sees the character as being integral to the DC Extended Universe and as a character who can tie many threads together.
Fans seem to be embracing Miller as that character, who is younger and less serious in tone than Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill) or Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot). It also highlights the studio’s desire to cement an interlocking series of films to rival Marvel Studios’ successful Avengers movies.
