I mean goddamn this conference seems wrapped up doesn’t it? Not trying to jinx us but it really seems like injuries are our biggest opponent at this point.
The Ravens are fucking frauds. They’re a warm up for us. We literally made these guys look like the JV squad the last 2 meetings.
And sure the Bills and Titans may make us work for the win, but in all honesty we have to play pretty goddamn shitty to lose to those guys.
In order to have any shot at beating us you need 3 things:
1. Elite pass rush
2. Top 10 QB capable of making critical plays
3. Overall talented roster
Steelers are the only team in the AFC that has those 3 things, and even them it’s not like they’re some serious threat like the Patriots a couple years back, but they seem like the best of the rest.
I think at this point it would be disappointing for this team to not get to the SB 3 straight times.
We’re just that good, and we keep drafting well and get better and better. [Reply]

Their offense isn't really very good and they've played a pretty meh schedule. It's a weird year, but they seem more like a typical 11/12 win team, not a 15 win team.
Total cupcake schedule, having faced only three teams with a winning record... and of course that last win again the Ravens was basically against second stringers at all skill positions [Reply]

The original poster asks what is needed to stop the Chiefs. The real question is do the Steelers have what it takes to keep up with the Chiefs. I’ve seen too many examples (vs Broncos, vs Cowboys, last week) to have any confidence that the Steelers will be able to slow down Mahomes and with Dupree out you’re going to see sacks and pressures go way down for Pittsburgh. If the Chiefs play their game they will hang 40+ on the Steelers and the question then becomes can the Steelers hang 40+ on KC. It doesn’t matter where they play either — Mahomes record away from Arrowhead is better than at home.
All I can say is that if KC faces the Pittsburgh team from last week it’s going to be a blowout. But it also won’t surprise me in the least if Pittsburgh doesn’t make it past their first playoff game. [Reply]
The Steelers are not in any way formidable anymore. They’ve always been about a strong front with damn good backers and now they’ve lost half of them who are easily 2 of their 5 best players on their defense.
Their pass rush will not get to Pat very often and their LB’s are now really damn slow. Clyde and Kelce will eat them alive.
Their secondary is basically Minkah Fitzpatrick, JAG’s and Haden who is old and declining.
They aren’t stopping us nor can they keep up [Reply]
Last time a team won back to back Superbowls? 2003-2004 Pats. Did they have a bye in the playoffs? No. The team that did? The 15-1 Steelers who got knocked off by the Pats. [Reply]

Devin Bush was probably the 8th best defensive player on the Steelers.
The whole cupcake schedule narrative would only mean something if they lost to the 3 good teams they faced but they didn't. Also the Chiefs have only played 4 good teams and lost to one of them once.
Enough with the Steelers games are all close, guess who leads the entire NFL in point differential?
The Steelers also best the Chiefs in pts allowed, sacks, takeways,DVOA defense, DVOA overall.
While the rhe Steelers have played the 28th ranked schedule the Chiefs have played the 25th ranked schedule.
Now im a realistic Steeler fan the Dupree injury hurts especially if we play the Chiefs and i do believe the Chiefs should be favored if they played. Because you have Mahomes and we don't. [Reply]

This was the same argument we heard from Patsies fans last season when they tried to tell us how their defense/offense was no.1. Almost word for word.
And the Chiefs that the same defense statistically in 2018 that your Steelers have now. Tops in sacks, near the top in takeaways, best in the league preventing 3rd down conversions. blahblahblah.
The facts are simple: PIT has a really good safety and did have a pretty good DL that could get after the passer. But your corners are average, and your two best LBs are done.
The Steelers offense is not efficient enough to score with the Chiefs. And they don't have the secondary to slow down Patrick, Hill, Kelce and Watkins.
If they do meet in the playoffs, the Chiefs are going to run the Steelers out of the building before half-time. [Reply]
People are going overboard with the Dupree injury now. It's not like they lost Watt, the heart of that pass rush is still there. Remember that Bud was a bust until Watt came along and drew all the extra attention. And they still have a bunch of talent on that front 7. [Reply]

No, it’s not going overboard to suggest that losing the #2 of the best pass rushing duo in the NFL is a huge blow.
Also, it’s not just about Dupree. They’ve already lost Bush. That’s 2 of their top 5 defenders.
When it comes to matching up with the Chiefs, they’re fucked. [Reply]
Devin Bush plays the least important position on defense and his loss is mainly felt in the run game. Spillane has filled in just fine. Bush has little bearing on the matchup with the Chiefs.
Losing Bud and Bush probably hurt them against the Titans and Ravens more than anyone, especially when it comes to edge contain. [Reply]

Umm what?
That defense struggled immensely after losing Shazier. It’s arguably the most important position on their defense. What a shit take.
To suggest a team that’s strength is defense wouldn’t really miss 2 of their top 5 defenders against the best offense in the NFL is an even worse take. [Reply]

Who said anything about not missing them? Go back and read what I've actually said before you keep ranting.
Spillane has filled in for Bush just fine, and Bud is a loss, but all these overreactions about how it means their pass rush is dead are dumb. Their front seven still is full of talent and their best player is still there. [Reply]
