Snyder's Man of Steel, which rebooted the Superman franchise, has grossed north of $600 million worldwide since it hit theaters this June.

According to two sources with knowledge of the movie, Warner Bros. intends to announce the news at its Comic-Con International panel Saturday morning. Said a Warner Bros. spokesperson, “We don’t comment on rumors regarding these properties.”

“Man of Steel” director Zack Snyder is expected to reunite with screenwriter David S. Goyer and star Henry Cavill for the new film. It’s unlikely Christian Bale will step back into the bat suit, as the actor has indicated publicly that he has moved on from his days as Bruce Wayne.

“Man of Steel” producer and “Dark Knight” trilogy director Christopher Nolan is expected by some to produce the project, but the exact nature of his involvement is unclear.

The move marks the culmination of years of effort on the part of Warner Bros. and DC Comics to bring their superheroes together in a similar fashion to their primary competitor Marvel, which successfully combined its superheroes into a $1.5-billion box-office hit with “The Avengers.”

In the comic world, the two heroes are teaming up in a new series, “Batman/Superman,” by writer Greg Pak and artist Jae Lee.

One of my (few) complaints about SWTFA was that I thought it could have been longer, given a little more room for exposition/world building. So 151 minutes works for me.

Actually I'm not sure how much filler there will be, with the number of characters involved.

much rather see a well thought out story than a short one to appease the short attention spans. Plus.. people think (LOL) we've seen the whole movie in the trailer.

Agree -- if I was setting out to make a send-up comedy of a Batman v Superman movie it would have scenes and dialogue like that.

How the director, DC, the WB marketing department all thought that would get people excited to see their movie is amazing to me...

Maybe they're trying to appeal to the Batman & Robin crowd?

:-)

Seriously.. WTF are they trying to do with this movie? I'm so confused. I want to say it's all just misdirection, but that's getting harder to consider when everything keeps getting exponentially worse.

Face the harsh truth: There was never a chance that this movie was going to be anything but terrible. It's been a cavalcade of bad decisions.

This, all day.

It's going to be a money making machine full of eye porn, but this movie is going to bloooww. I honestly think Suicide Squad is going to be miles better than this heap.

Once Batman got attached to what was supposed to be the Superman sequel, it could only be a shitshow.

DC screwed up by being reactionary to Marvel. Jump to an Avengers equivalent without any of the stand alone movies to lay the framework.

Apparently a lot of people are thinking the scene with Nazi Superman in the desert is a Martian Manhunter vision.

If they try and include MM out of the blue this shit could get really ugly.
