Thanks!

And with notable exception of SARS, very little has left me feeling vulnerable, overwhelmed or downright scared.

I am not scared of Covid-19.
I am concerned about the implications of a novel infectious agent that has spread the world over and continues to find new footholds in different soil. I am rightly concerned for the welfare of those who are elderly, in frail health or disenfranchised who stand to suffer mostly, and disproportionately, at the hands of this new scourge. But I am not scared of Covid-19.

What I am scared about is the loss of reason and wave of fear that has induced the masses of society into a spellbinding spiral of panic, stockpiling obscene quantities of anything that could fill a bomb shelter adequately in a post-apocalyptic world. I am scared of the N95 masks that are stolen from hospitals and urgent care clinics where they are actually needed for front line healthcare providers and instead are being donned in airports, malls, and coffee lounges, perpetuating even more fear and suspicion of others. I am scared that our hospitals will be overwhelmed with anyone who thinks they " probably don't have it but may as well get checked out no matter what because you just never know..." and those with heart failure, emphysema, pneumonia and strokes will pay the price for overfilled ER waiting rooms with only so many doctors and nurses to assess.

Covid-19 is nowhere near over. It will be coming to a city, a hospital, a friend, even a family member near you at some point. Expect it. Stop waiting to be surprised further. The fact is the virus itself will not likely do much harm when it arrives. But our own behaviors and "fight for yourself above all else" attitude could prove disastrous.

Sporting events have been canceled on threat of uncertain hurricanes. Don't be intentionally obtuse.

I'm talking about legal liability, not if events have been cancelled before because of it.

Say if a musical festival was NOT cancelled this weekend and someone contracted Coronavirus while at the concert. If they took the concert owners to court would they win for negligence?

One person? No big deal. Your trivial scenario is hardly the concern of the promoters. What if 2 weeks From now 200 people who attended had covid-19 and they had been walking around for 2 weeks. Are you wanting to be the concert promoter in that scenario? Geez, you don’t have to think the world will end to take sensible precautions.

I have probably 10 of the N95 masks that I was going to sell on eBay, but eBay took my post down today because they don't allow those to be sold anymore. I was about to take it down myself because im going to give them to my stepdad. He needs all the protection he can get since he has COPD, Congestive Heart Failure, and is about to have surgery to remove a malignant tumor in his esophagus. If he got this he will die. His immune system is suppressed since he just recently finished chemo and radiation.

Quarantined Wuhan kids find brilliant way to get out of schoolwork

"Somehow the little brats worked out that if enough users gave the app a one-star review it would get booted off the App Store. Tens of thousands of reviews flooded in, and DingTalk’s rating plummeted overnight from 4.9 to 1.4. The app has had to beg for mercy on social media: 'I'm only five years old myself, please don’t kill me.'"

Safe to say, should your event happen and someone turns up positive past event:

1) Local media will make it a circus.
2) Blame will flow like lava from the Stupidity Volcano
3) Lawsuits will be filed against the event promotor, the city/county/state
4) Lawyers will line up like turkey vultures and sell sign ups for a class action
