The Chiefs have reached an agreement with Sammy Watkins on a new 1-year deal that will pay him a base of $9m for 2020 with an incentive package that can reach $16m, a source tells me.
The move creates $5m in cap space for the Chiefs to operate this offseason.

Our defense is going to suffer too, especially if Jones doesn't make it back, but I have faith our offense will fuck shit up.
With the changes to the postseason, this could be the difference in getting the 1-seed. That’s a big fucking deal.
Also, what if a great receiver somehow falls to us in the draft?
Either take him and get even crazier on offense.
Or
Trade out of the pick and get more from a team with a need.
This is a great move anyway you look at it. Frees up cap space for next year too, since it isn’t an extension. [Reply]

Though given he had a so so regular season last year, he probably is betting on significant improvement and reaching some or all the incentives. A lot of figures indicated he should be around 10-11 million a year so he bet 1-2 million to win 7 milion.
I already had made another post with that same info after I looked at spotrac.

And I’m really only a fan of this if Watkins stays healthy this year and actually performs like he’s getting paid....you know....in the regular season. [Reply]

Nah if he’s hurt he only costs 9 mil. I’ll gladly take 9 mil for playoff Sammy [Reply]

All depends on whether the incentives are deemed likely to be reached. [Reply]

It is pretty close 9 salary + 7 prorated bonus. It was scheduled to be 21 before the change or 7 if we cut him. [Reply]
