Nzoner's Game Room>****Official 2018 Missouri Tigers Football Thread****
'Hamas' Jenkins 05:36 PM 07-30-2018
The beginning of the 2018 season is a little under five weeks away. Missouri enters the year projected to finish 4th in the East, and may be a borderline Top 25 team according to some projection systems. After a disappointing recruiting cycle last year, pressure is on Odom to restock the cupboard after the senior years of Lock and Beckner, who will go down as two of the better Tigers in history and likely first round draft picks.

Schedule:

Spoiler!

Recruiting:

Spoiler!

At this point, the class is ranked 68-69 nationally by Rivals and 24/7. Odom is going to have to rely on Pinkel's diamond-in-the-rough approach. It looks like they've pulled back considerably from Georgia, focusing more upon Texas, which is what they should have always done. Unfortunately, they've done horrific in-state, and I think that will likely end up being the nail in Odom's coffin after the 2019 season.

12/19 Update: A strong finish late in the cycle moved the class up significantly. Securing commitments from grad transfer Kelly Bryant and TCU transfer Shawn Robinson has solidified the QB position in the short and intermediate term. A class that was ranked in the 60's at the beginning of the season is now a top 20-30 class factoring in transfers.

Hamas' Crystal Ball: 8-4; 4-4 in the SEC (wins vs. Ark, Tenn, Vandy, Kentucky)

Can you guys please hire Dave Steckel back? Pretty please with a cherry on top. Pinkel coaching tree is like the Belichick one. They all suck with out him.

And yet Matt Eberflus, who couldn't cobble together a decent defense with six starters who played in the NFL in '08, has somehow climbed his way up the NFL ranks.

I mean, he might still go there, but I’m a lot more worried about Miami and Auburn than Arkansas.

Recent chatter I’ve seen has been about Auburn, Mizzou, and Florida/Miami.

I think a big part of Odom’s struggles with QBs was Heupel, who wanted no part of local product Graham Mertz.
Auburn would be a surprise unless Stidham is going to grad transfer. Can't see NC or Miami being favorites with rocky situations. Didn't know Florida was really in the mix.

Think it'll come down to MU, Arky and Miss State.

Maybe y'all also should look into a Grad transfer as another option? That way, if for whatever reason the Bryant situation didn't work out, at least y'all have an fallback option.

Anyone know of any in-state QBs in the class of 2020 that have promise?

Mizzou got a commitment from a QB from St. Louis. One of the Catholic schools - DeSmet or Chaminade or CBC can't remember which one.

Arkansas suspended 2 defensive starters this week after they were seen fraternizing with the Mississippi State dance team before the game on Saturday: https://t.co/eBKOUTDuJt

I dunno - trying to bang the opponents cheerleaders during warmups probably deserves a little time off.

I don't fault Arky on this one - that's well earned.

Sounds like they were just talking to them. It's not like they were waiving their junk in their faces or grabbing 'em by the pussy or anything.

But whatever, it's not like I have a problem with it. Shit, they can suspend anybody they want to. :-)

Yeah, need to stay in business mode if you're on a business trip. Unlike the stupid coat shit, I don't see a problem with Morris enforcing rules here.

Football players talking to the dance squad - I doubt they were asking how their families are doing or if they were caught up on their studies.

They're out there in pre-game trying to set something up for down the road. I don't throw them off the team or anything but like I said - I have no problem with sitting them for a week either. That's not prudish - it's telling the rest of the team to keep their minds on the task ahead of them, not on trying to get some naked Snaps on the flight home.

As for the impact - we oughta be able to fist that squad regardless of who they start/sit. Arkansas is baaaaaaaad.

Yep, get your minds on the game, not the piece of ass on the sidelines. It was handled perfect.
