Nzoner's Game Room>2019 Free agency Thread
O.city 03:24 PM 02-05-2019
We don't really have one of these yet, so figured we could use this as a place to discuss potential free agent acquisitions and what we would like to look for them to bring in.

If any of you guys are interested, heres a good place to do some research.

Sorry if previously posted...

"Heard from couple folks #Chiefs canvassing interest in trade up from 29th overall. Conventional wisdom is to target impact Defender. One guy who knows Andy well said.... 'Andy sees DK Metcalf getting knocked for short area quickness and realizes he perfectly fits w/ Mahomes'." - Chad Forbes

Speculation at best, but interesting.

DK Metcalf literally has the same measurables as Calvin Johnson, he's going top 5.

If they do that, Tyreek is gone.

DeMarcus Lawrence wants 140 million with 85 guaranteed over 6 years.

For context on the DeMarcus Lawrence situation, a source informed tells me #Cowboys “aren’t even close on any number” as it pertains to yearly salary and guaranteed.
What player wants? Take Von Miller’s deal, multiply by the cap growth of 22 % since 2016 & the deal is done.

Don't want Clowney. Don't want Lawrence at that price.

Don't want Ramsey. Would rather have Peterson.

They're not trading up high enough to get Metcalf or White.

This place needs to put down the opium pipe.

Very good player, but not Miller/Mack good. Definitely a lower tier that thinks otherwise.

Wouldn't reccomend for the Chiefs to trade for him at all with an upcoming surgery he needs to get done.

The Tyreek Hill situation has already opened my eyes to the possibility that this Mahomesian dynasty we all want to imagine could be short-circuited by random, unforeseen events, so I'd rather err on the side of being more aggressive in a situation like this now, even if it might leave us in a slightly more difficult cap situation in future years.

Don't get me wrong: I don't think we should mortgage any future. Just a bias I would have going into this next season from this point forward.
I don't disagree but to me, the bolded part makes me wanna go the other way. With unforeseen incidents happening at weird times, you want to give yourself as many opportunities as you can.

If they want to go all in I get it, I would probably do that myself. But I get what they seem to be looking at doing.
