Go wherever you want but if I am going to fly 8,000 miles to dive SE Asia I would go to Thailand 100 times out of 100. Much better vis and many more animals.

By the way, one of my very favorite places to dive is low vis, not much coral but there are tons of animals. If you have never been I would recommend Coiba (Pacific side of Panama). It is remote and raw and rustic (there is literally nothing on the island but a ranger station) but you will see a ton.
I'll add it to my list. And I agree, Vietnam wouldn't be my first choice either if I was in the part of the globe, I'd be looking at Bali and that whole chain.

But if you're adventuresome and don't mind drysuit diving, diving some of fjords on the west coast of Norway should be on your bucket list. A very different experience, but well worth it IMO.

Bali? Tons of great diving in Indonesia but if I were planning a dive trip to Indonesia I would skip Bali and go to Raja Ampat or Sulawesi or Mabul or Komodo. Far less touristed areas.

I really can't argue with you there. But hey, it's a place I'd love to spend a year and just sail around and just dive. Add Palau while I'm there... The 'ol Blue Corner dive and reef hooks...

Lake Haiyaha was something to behold before the rockslide; can't wait to see it again afterwards. Did you hike up there before the rockslide?

I'd hiked in the area previously, but not to Haiyaha itself. The whole area is gorgeous.
