Snyder's Man of Steel, which rebooted the Superman franchise, has grossed north of $600 million worldwide since it hit theaters this June.

According to two sources with knowledge of the movie, Warner Bros. intends to announce the news at its Comic-Con International panel Saturday morning. Said a Warner Bros. spokesperson, “We don’t comment on rumors regarding these properties.”

“Man of Steel” director Zack Snyder is expected to reunite with screenwriter David S. Goyer and star Henry Cavill for the new film. It’s unlikely Christian Bale will step back into the bat suit, as the actor has indicated publicly that he has moved on from his days as Bruce Wayne.

“Man of Steel” producer and “Dark Knight” trilogy director Christopher Nolan is expected by some to produce the project, but the exact nature of his involvement is unclear.

The move marks the culmination of years of effort on the part of Warner Bros. and DC Comics to bring their superheroes together in a similar fashion to their primary competitor Marvel, which successfully combined its superheroes into a $1.5-billion box-office hit with “The Avengers.”

In the comic world, the two heroes are teaming up in a new series, “Batman/Superman,” by writer Greg Pak and artist Jae Lee.

The color wash wasn't as bad. But almost every important scene happened at night and or in a dark building. They work in a dump. Spend most of their time In dark dingy places and almost all the action is at night and in an abandoned building.

Both sound like decent ideas.

As for Jessica Jones, well her superhero career ended beginning here and it gets worse from there. Much worse:

Purple Man looks silly but his power is widespread mind control and he is a sadist so he does things like this:

The Jessica image...what comic is that from?

That's one way to put it.

:-)

I probably dislike more Marvel movies than I like. Winter Soldier and Ant Man are way more up my alley than Thor or the Avengers or Shield. And while I initially liked Iron Man, after re-watching this past weekend, realized it wasn't as strong as I had remembered.

For me, the Dark Knight trilogy was incredible. The music, the vibe, the feel. I didn't initially connect with Man of Steel but after multiple viewing (mainly on HBO, even though I had purchased the DVD), I really dug it.

Hopefully, B v. S is awesome, as are the Justice League and other spinoffs.

Im about the same as you. Loved Dark Knight trilogy, MoS, and Winter Soldier. Hated Thor (I'm not a fan of cheesy campy movies) and I have mixed feelings about the Iron Man movies. They're decent but once again, a bit too cheesy for me and the 2nd one is pure trash. I'm one of the few who actually liked the 3rd one and the more serious tone it took. And trying to re-watch Avengers is honestly difficult for me. First two acts are pretty boring and not even in a "we're developing characters" type of boring. And I find it hilarious that the movie doesn't get 25% of the criticism for the destruction porn at the end as MoS.

Apparently they had an early screening for WB big wigs that received a standing ovation.

This last part is going to be a tough bar to clear for the Bale contingent.

According to rumors from Warner Bros. insiders, the future of DC Movie slate will now center around Ben Affleck’s Dark Knight. The sudden (but really, unsurprising) pivot came after an early cut of Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice was shown to a small group of Warner Bros. executives. The big wigs were reportedly so impressed with the film, that they gave it a standing ovation.

And much of that applause was for Ben Affleck and his performance as Batman. The executives are so impressed, in fact, that they are reportedly trying to get Affleck on-board for three stand-alone Batman films.
Affleck’s Batman, and these movies, would reportedly become the cornerstone of DC’s other movies, with one Warner boss reportedly calling Affleck the “definitive Batman.”

I disagree. Nolan was the star of those films, not Bale. Ledger was amazing and I actually preferred JGL's performance to Bale's in the final film.

And Bale's voice is extremely divisive in those films, so it'll be interesting to see what Affleck brings to the character.

Personally, I think he'll be awesome. His stand alone movie should be completely amazing. The guy is ridiculously talented.

Agree wholeheartedly with the first paragraph.

I don't have an opinion on the voice thing.

I hope the third paragraph comes to fruition. Dude is legit, but gets basted because he took some shit roles.

I actually have learned to appreciate Ben Affleck.. even in films like Armageddon... he was just doing a big screen gig lol. He comes off well on the screen.

Here's the truth: Everyone wants to work.

It doesn't matter if it's Ben Affleck or Marlon Brando or Johnny Depp or Martin Sheen, to name a few. Everyone wants to work.

You're paid your fee, told that talented people are attached, trust your agent and the studio, then it flops.

Today, flops are out under a microscope due to the internet. But if people were to peruse the resumes of old, whether it's Kirk Douglas or Martin Sheen or James Garner or Dustin Hoffman, et al, you're going to find stinkers.

It's the nature of this biz and but it's also a testament to Affleck's talent and drive. The dude is on top and IMO, that's a good thing. He's passionate about great film making.

but not about Jennifer Garner. What a dumbass.

My wifes People magazine came in this week is the only reason I even heard about that. She was always my girl next door. How dare he.... :-)

Plus he's always loved Batman. I hated Man of Steel and am still ambivalent about BvS, but Affleck directing solo Batman movies is something to be excited about.

Dane,
I'm actually in agreement with you about this. I like Bale as an actor - in fact, I love his performance in American Psycho, The Prestige, and plenty of other films.
If you really just watch his performance in TDK series, it's actually rather bland. His voice change as Batman is rediculous, but people gave it a free pass because they loved everything else about the movie.

I personally think he grew in contempt for playing the character. He is certainly not someone without an ego, and has zero interest in being constantly remembered simply for playing batman.

Nolan is for the star of that saga. Ledger cemented a performance in it to give the trilogy cinematic gravitas. Bale was serviceable, but hardly remarkable, and certainly nothing to distinguish him as the standard-bearer for playing BW/Batman.
