Others mentioned I should start this thread in my other thread. And while I won't have the new car for a while, I'd like to hear some thoughts and recommendations so I can have most of it on hand before the car shows up. My other thread had a lot of great posts in it and you guys have been a big help.
While black cars looks great clean, keeping it relatively clean in Phoenix might be the death of me. But I'll sure as shit give it my best shot.
I actually like cleaning and waxing our current cars but it's not like I am being meticulous about it. I've never had a car with rims either and I know those can get dirty quick. I've never owned a dark colored car and I've never had a car with leather. I plan to take really good care of this car and would like some tips on doing so. But I'm just a fucking n00b.
I'll throw some links out from Amazon as I mention things.
Some mention that after washing you should use a paint cleanser before waxing. But wondering if washing then clay baring is sufficient prior to wax?
I've seen this P21S Paintwork Cleanser mentioned on a few reads. Looks like good use for water spots and swirls prior to waxing if needed. Not sure if you would do entire car first or just use it for bad spots before waxing?
Also, a company called Zaino has great reviews and recommendations. They have a package that looks like it includes all products I'd need together including wash, polish, wax, leather and tire care.
this is a Walmart item - but apparently it's amazing - I have some arriving today from Amazon. Scott also uses on his leather in the interior. Makes sense.
I really dig those Dallas Paint Correction vids. He seems knowledgeable. Between him, Larry w/ AMMO, Pan the Organizer, and CG instructional vids, we have a breadth of knowledge to draw from.

Thank you.
yeah Scott's pretty darned good - he sounds exactly like Howard Stern [Reply]
I just did my first manual car wash in quite some time - I am a little disappointed - still some signs of dirt - I simply think I need to spend about double the time I did - I got through it all in about 35 mins. Miles you're correct - WORX leaf blower gets about 80% of the water. Will have to use instant detailer and micro fiber to finish it after blowing it, next time.
Also I'm going to have to spend double time on the washing part, I think.
I really need to spend about 3 or 4 hours on my wheels one day - aged powder coat gets dingy and needs revived. I am going to clay+spray wax, eventually. [Reply]

Black is so frustrating!
Quickest I could ever do my black Mustang was 60 minutes. It’s usually 75-90 when it was my daily driver. Did it every 10-14 days. I don’t miss that. [Reply]

If you keep it waxed then the dirt comes right off with hose spray or the most gentle of mitt scrubbing.
I may have asked you this before - do your stock M3 brake pads make mountains of brake dust? My M2 stock pads are insane - it only takes about 3 drives before the wheels are turning reddish gray again. [Reply]

Mine certainly did while I had it. The particular rims had a lot of small spikes to clean which I hated washing. [Reply]

I'm even finding my 5 spoke (split spoke) to be annoying as all getout. I have a long wheel brush, but I find that using one of my old wash mitts works easier and better.
And then rusty water drips from the vents on the rotors and makes little rust pools on the wheel, which I have to go back and wipe after about an hour or so. Hitting the rotors with the leaf blower helps some, but I still get the rust pools. [Reply]

Think there is going to be some technique to use he blower too to work the water off top to down but haven’t fully figured it out yet. [Reply]
