Nzoner's Game Room>2019 Free agency Thread
O.city 03:24 PM 02-05-2019
We don't really have one of these yet, so figured we could use this as a place to discuss potential free agent acquisitions and what we would like to look for them to bring in.

If any of you guys are interested, heres a good place to do some research.

Ryan Fitzpatrick QB, Miami Dolphins
Dolphins signed Ryan Fitzpatrick, formerly of the Bucs, to a two-year contract.

Good signing...
That's a surprisingly solid pickup for them.

Fitzpatrick is a good little stop-gap; not someone you plan on taking anyplace that matters, but someone that can come in and provide representative play that keeps your skill position players interested until you find someone better.

Also a damn good lockerroom guy by all accounts.

Giving up nothing to take Fitz on a short-term flyer deal while you look for your long-term answer is a hell of a lot less stupid than hitching your wagon to Joe !@#$ing Flacco.

Fitz is what people THINK Flacco is; a credible downfield passer and veteran leader. Flacco sucks at all the things. Fitz sucks at most of them but occasionally catches fire.

He's what you call a high-variance player. When he's good, he's !@#$ing locked in. That's more than you can ever say for Joe Flacco.

Agreed, couldnt ask for a better temporary starter/back up. Guy is a gamer and well liked.

And with no long-term commitment necessary or expected, it signals that the Dolphins clearly intend to come up with a long-term option at the position.

This is a HELL of a lot smarter than giving Bridgewater several years and planning on building around him. Honestly, I think it even makes more sense than what the 49ers did when they paid through the nose on Garappalo in the hopes that he'd be as good as a rookie they could draft.

This isn't the end-game for them, it's a signal that they have an end-game in mind.

Good signing by the Dolphins.

Not as good as Foles but better than Flacco.

We may disagree on Fitz and the utility in signing him.

But we can ALL agree that Joe Flacco is a piece of shit.

I sure hope Fitz has a few more of those white-hot games in the tank. At some point the Patriots won't be playing in AAA anymore and may actually have to use a couple of bullets to get through their division.

So anything that helps the AFC East be merely bad instead of flat out embarrassing is a step in the right direction.

ANYTHING to get some balance going in that division.

Former Rams’ LB Mark Barron reached agreement on a two-year, $12 million deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers, per source. A rare free-agent foray for Pittsburgh.

This is kind of big news for anyone who wanted us to draft Devin Bush. Seemed like he had a big chance of not getting past PITT.

Louisiana Tech pro day is Tuesday but potential first round pick Jaylon Ferguson is already a busy man. He's having dinner tonight with the Kansas City Chiefs and meeting with the New York Giants & Buffalo Bills tomorrow.

Looking more and more like Veach is taking a lineman in R1.

If this Hill thing ends terribly (him found guilty and off of the roster), Veach may need to consider extending Robbie Anderson a RFA offer sheet.

Jets would almost certainly match it, but you have to give it a shot I think.

Yeah, let’s financially commit to a guy who has been arrested twice in the past two years.

C’mon pugs....
