I'm a tiny bit of a sucker for those type of collaborative songs. They'll never be as tight or clean as a studio album or anything, but they can still be a good and interesting listen.
Fred Mascherino has done a couple and listening to him talk about the different interpretations of the same music was a good listen. Not blowing anybody's doors off, but still valuable in the world of art.
