Major props to Mathieu and what he’s doing for this defense right now. As a player and leader.
For my money, he looks like an All-Pro defensive back. Emphasis on DB there, cause he does everything. He spent most of today covering Sutton at the LOS. Incredible addition.
Earlier in the season he made some “business decisions” and was not terribly noticeable on the stat sheets. Something changed.
He’s the communicator out there, and he’s uplifted that secondary. I love his instincts and I think Spags rewards him by mixing up his responsibilities. There's a lot of buy-in on the defensive side of the ball and I think Mathieu has been a catalyst in getting everybody to be on the same page.

You're right about the business decisions, and you're also right about his play improving quite a bit lately. I'm officially removing my "cover Safety" label for him. This is the type of play and leadership we were all hoping for when we picked him up.
It's great that the guys they gave big money to this year are actually making a difference. Looked pretty grim earlier with 'business decision,' Clark nearly being invisible and Tyreek going from exemption to injured and now they are all coming through.
Maybe we've finally overcame the big money deals turning into disaster curse
Just a tremendous signing getting Mathieu. But, the best part of it is that unbeknownst to us at the time, we’d pair Mathieu with a guy named Thornhill and they’d become a formidable duo in our defensive backfield. Having game breaking safeties is a difference maker!

Safety went from (IMO) our biggest weakness to a team strength. Those two kids can play
