Sources: The #Chiefs are closing in on signing star TE Travis Kelce to a long-term extension – at least 5 years – that keeps him in a KC uniform catching passes from Patrick Mahomes for the foreseeable future. Keeping their best players...
Very quietly, KC and the agents for Travis Kelce have been working on an extension to pay him according to his production. This should be done in the next day or so. The #Chiefs continue to do work. https://t.co/maqWkpFQD3

I think part of that is simply Belichick being a jerk. If players are going to put up with him and take a discount, they gotta be super desperate for a ring. Andy Reid and Brett Veach seem like much easier people to deal with compared to Belichick. That is bound to be a factor in how these players approach the contract negotiation.
Compensation update: Chiefs are giving Pro Bowl TE Travis Kelce a four-year, $57 million extension that ties him to Kansas City for the next six years, per source.
And...the Chiefs have agreed to a four-year extension with Kelce with an APY or $14-$15 million per year, sources confirm. Still working through some things but that’s the framework. https://t.co/J66z2JYr0L

Speaking of Reid, I love him. If not for him coming to KC we have nothing. Veach is only here because he was a Reid guy.
Also, thank God for Clark Hunt going out and doing everything in his power to get Reid here. Clark Hunt should be in the HOF with Reid and Veach.
Does your dumbass still think CEH was a “stupid pick”?
I fully expect this to come out with extremely reasonable guaranteed money and the last two years as options at this point. Mahomes, Jones, and Watkins have ruined me.

Yep.
The Travis Kelce deal with the Chiefs is now done: More than $14 million per year on average with just under $25 million in guarantees, per source. With two years left on previous deal, Kelce gets security to finish out his storied career.
