DMX suffered a drug overdose Friday night and is currently in the hospital ... and the prognosis is not good.
Sources close to the rapper tell TMZ, the OD occurred at his home at around 11 PM. Our sources say the overdose triggered a heart attack.
DMX was rushed to a hospital in White Plains, New York and is in the critical care unit. We're told he has "some brain activity." Another source says he's in a "vegetative state" and doctors have cautioned he may not make it.
/inb4 "who, I don't listen to rap crap" from the ancient ones on the forum. [Reply]
I was in middle school when Ruff Ryders Anthem was the single, I never felt so cool to bump this CD in my Memorex disc player. This song was just different from any other song in those days. Speedy recovery X.
There are some decent plays on words in this thread. Chiefs Fan knows a lot more about DMX than I would have guessed.
Anyway, hope he pulls through. I believe he's got like 10+ kids and has been struggling with substance abuse basically his whole life. Seems he's a pretty shitty decision maker. I hope this one doesn't cost him everything. [Reply]

I bet you'd be surprised to know we have running water and electricity too. [Reply]
Man, loved this guy and how he rapped. His style is representative of the true character of what rap music was with that “tude” you know?! And unique, “Umph!” Uh-huh” “woof woof”. Grrrrrr” lol loved it. I’m sad to hear what happened to him and I hope his demons don’t get the best of him. Dude is a fighter.
You don’t see that shit anymore! Sadly, rap evolved into more “soft” than hardcore. I don’t listen to it anymore. I miss that old rap and where it came from “the hood.” That’s expressed throughout his music and he represents the truth behind it and where it came from;I just love how he uses that as an outlet.
DMXs lyrics were creative, innovative and relevant to life. I love those songs when he would talk to the guardian angel Damien and Damien was all about that temptation guide for DMX. I could relate to this in life man where I want to do something bad and that guardian angel is telling me, “go ****ing do it bro!” Many ppl could relate to that shit as if he is on your shoulder talking to you bro. DMX reflects that in his music, it’s great I could relate to that.
then there is that other song where he is talking to the Lord. The Lord is giving him that divine intervention and wisdom. I could relate bro.
His music is real because it represents life struggle, suffering and pain. Lyrically he is an emphatic genius.
DMX I’ll say, thank you for your great music! I hope you make it through. Let us pray. [Reply]
